oh I know, but I wanted him to address that too, so the left could go batshit crazy and call him a transphobe or some other silly thing.

The Catholic Church teaches that women cannot be ordained priests because Jesus willingly chose only men as his apostles.
But they'll have to make a better argument. It was a patriarchal society back then. So perhaps, the Catholic Church needs to teach that both women and men are different? Maybe we need to recognize that. Apparently we've forgotten the differences between genders.
To: MinorityRepublican
It was a patriarchal society back then Jesus was God back then, as He is today. It's rather ridiculous to suppose he was bound by social convention.
Incidentally, the ancient pagan world was full of priestesses. Judaism never bought into that, because God never legislated it. Christianity follows the same pattern.

Christianity follows the same pattern. You could say the same about Islam.

But they'll have to make a better argument. No, WE won't.
WE aren't trying to persuade anyone, least of all you.
No offence intended, but your opinion is irrelevant.
The Catholic Church, as a matter of revealed Truth, cannot ... has no ability to ... ordain priestesses. Discussion over. Any entity that ordains priestesses isn't the Catholic Church.

Francis likes to dangles commissions in front of his groupies to keep his star power up....In the end he follows the teaching of the church or he is a heretic......I’m betting this synod is just a lot of hot air not going anywhere.....

Whereas the pope has shut the door to the female priesthood in the past, Francis recently opened an unprecedented opportunity for debate on the topic. Answering a series of questions, or dubia, sent by conservative prelates regarding the synodal discussions, Francis said there is no “clear and authoritative doctrine” on the question of ordination, and it can be “a subject of study.”

In the America article he is also more or less spot on on the place of episcopal conferences. In theory they have marginal value, in practice they are a novel P.I.T.A.
