Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 2
The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
You are "LORD with me.
I am not alone.
You Are By my side.
You Stand With Me.
And If You Are With Me,
Who can stand against me?
You Alone are the One Who Triumphs Over All!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Despite what liberal theologians may argue, this is not an endorsement of socialism. A few chapters in, we will see what happened to a couple who tried to "virtue-signal" their way into the community. At that point we will hear Peter's own opinion of "private property". (For The Record: If you OWN it, it is yours to do what you want with it ...Acts 5) It's not what we have that counts. It's what we do with it.
I have already confessed in this forum that back in High School (Class of 1970) I was a hippy-dippy flower child. (By 1972 I was married, working for the phone company, and dealing with the real world, so that was already far behind me.) Anyway, I had to write a paper for High School History Class, so I decided to do a glowing account of the history of communes. Since the site of a famous historical commune Brook Farm, was located near my home, I explored that one first. It was an economic failure. Legend has it that the participants thought that they were just too intellectual to feed chickens and slop the hogs, so the farm went belly up. OK. Next case.
New Harmony, Indiana had a real nice-sounding name, and the town still existed so it MUST have been a success, right? Well, no, it wasn't. It FAILED economically in less than two years from its founding.
Since there were no computers in those days, my research required me to take the Public Transportation into the Boston Main Library which necessitated going through a bad part of town. Day after day I gazed out upon the crumbling social experiments of 60's Government Housing, the caged-up storefronts, and the burned remnants of riots and unrest bred by socialism. Still, I persisted. There HAD to be a successful Commune SOMEWHERE!
A kindly library aide saw my struggle. Since she was not a Degreed Library Science Person, she was NOT allowed to give research advice.
"Look up 'Kibbutz"she whispered.
So I did.
My paper was turned in, and got an A+. The research, which had begun on a false premise, came to a conclusion that I had not expected, and it changed my political leanings all the way back in 1969. The conclusion was this:
COMMUNES DON'T WORK ECONOMICALLY BECAUSE OF HUMAN NATURE. Only a strong religious faith might hold it together for a little longer, but those too will eventually fail."
I am willing to bet if I submitted such a paper to today's Academia, I would either be expelled or remanded to the authorities. Thus is the curse of "Political Correctness" (a term that comes to us from the communist world).
Israel is, at present, embroiled in what could be an Apocalyptic War. The initial attack that started it all was directed at two venues which were full of people, and so, would seem to be able to defend themselves. (a Music Festival and a Kibbutz). One would suppose that there would be safety in numbers. But the people had been disarmed long ago, and were lulled into believing that their gentle, inoffensive lifestyle would protect them. Many of the people involved were quite sympathetic to the "plight" of their Arab neighbors and were under the delusion that their "kindness" would protect them from attack. Unfortunately, this is not how the Real World operates.
The idyllic community of Acts 2 had less than forty years to flourish, as Titus and his Roman Army would be leveling Jerusalem and dispersing both Christians and Jews to the Four Winds.
In 1948, the Modern Jewish State of Israel was Birthed. It is the only case in the History of Planet Earth that such an event has taken place. (You don't see "Babylonians" returning to Iraq and forming an new country, for example!)
The answer is not in socialism, communalism, humanitarianism, religion, or even just being a nice person. Please remember the friends and families of the dead and hostages, as well as the People of Israel as they face this current crisis. Please bear with me as my writing may not be up to par due to my distress over this.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Lord God Almighty,
Again we come before you thankful that nothing passes your eyes regarding Israel - you know of these happenings and knew long ago it would come, yet again, to what we are viewing. Nothing surprises you.
Lord, we ask that you be to Israel all that they need and supply what is necessary for them to protect their nation and peoples as this war moves along the path it is on. We ask especially for the solders who are in harms way - grant them courage beyond their ability, strength that supersedes their own, eyes to see clearly and wisdom that surpasses understanding. ..as they go into battle.
Send your mighty angels Lord and surround Israel with their unseen presence...just as you did for Elijah and Elisha....
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen
