Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 2

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[b] 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
You are "LORD with me.
I am not Alone.
You Are By my Side.
You Stand With Me.
And If You Are With Me, Who can Stand Against Me?
You Alone are the One Who Triumphs Over All!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Today's Passage, among Christians, is so controversial that it causes acrimony and arguments. Threads in the Religion Forum concerning the Gifts of the Spirit can go into hundreds of comments, and not all of them nice. Some say that all of the Gifts are in operation to this day, some say SOME, and some say NONE. Since everything I write in my musings are true, I can attest to many miracles in my life. So I guess that would put me in the "ALL" category.

In August 2019, my sister and I attended a Woodstock 50th Anniversary Concert starring Carlos Santana. To enter the huge outdoor venue in Mansfield, MA, we had to go through a metal detector, and have our purses measured (only 5" x 4" wallet-sized purses allowed), and surrender anything that could be used as a weapon (nail files, tweezers, toenail clippers, etc). I got pretty annoyed because, although I am licensed to carry, I know there are certain places where it's not allowed. I blurted out:

"C'mon, guys. Woodstock and Santana are all about Peace and Love through MUSIC!" Nevertheless, the Security Guards were adamant, and we meekly surrendered our nail files, tweezers, and toe nail clippers. The Concert was Awesome, and, of course, there were no incidents. In light of what just happened in Israel, at a "Peace and Love" Music Festival, I wish every one of those innocent concert-goers had been armed to the teeth. Although we may think of Music as the "Universal Language of Peace and Love", it is not effective in the struggle against real evil. Here is a story I shared many years ago, even before the Santana Concert:

"He plays everything by ear and can't read a note of music!"

"I don't need sheet music...I play by ear!"

"Don't bother giving me a chart...just tell me the chord changes and I'll feel it out."

"Just hum a few bars..."

For YEARS I was in the music business, but had a hard time with notation. I knew the names of the notes, and all the theory, but when it came to sight-reading, I was a wash-out. Then one day I had an opportunity to make $300.00 singing a 30-second ad in a professional studio. The producer handed me the chart and said "OK...on the count of four, sing it."

I looked at the scratches and spots on the page and froze. The next person, who did not have half the voice I had, sang the ad in the first try and went home with the $300.00. I wept all the way home on the train and resolved to teach myself how to read notation!.

Musical notation, as we know it today, has taken centuries to develop. It is generally accepted that an Italian Monk named Guido of Arezzo was the first to name the notes on the scale (For More on Brother Guido, Go HERE) By assigning syllables to the notes in the scale, Brother Guido was able to get his choir to sing on pitch...at least on relative pitch, which is the relationship of one note to the next one.

By painstakingly sight-reading one new thing per day, I taught myself how to sight read. The ultimate crown came when I started teaching others. That is the BEST way to learn anything.

Now, I have had a lot of keyboards over the years and they all come with instruction books. The instruction books come in English, French, Italian, German, and Japanese. However, the SHEET MUSIC books that come with the keyboards usually just have the Japanese titles at the top of the page, and I don't read Japanese. I do, however, read sheet music, and just the first measure tells me what the piece is...Clementi's First Sonatina, Beethoven's "Fur Elise", etc. If I don't recognize the piece, I sing it in my head, just from the notes.

As languages remain as confused as they were since the Tower of Babel, Sheet Music is the same in China as it is in the USA. On the Day of Pentecost, all the people from everywhere heard Peter speak in their own language. Perhaps it was a kind of "Spiritual Sheet Music" given by God to spread His Word. In any case, it was a Miracle, and I'm glad of it!

The Day of Pentecost was one of the Mandatory Jewish Holy Days outlined in the Torah. It is also called "The Feast of Weeks" and celebrates the First Fruits of the Harvest. It is 50 Days after Passover, hence the name "Pentecost". To Christians, it is the Birthday of the Church, when the Apostles were filled with The Holy Spirit to give them boldness and passion to reach out to People of every Language with the Good News. That is the Real "Peace and Love" Music Festival.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

I’ve wondered about how universal music is since something happened to me.

We were having work done upstairs in our house with a full Mexican crew. None of them spoke English (AFAIK).

Downstairs, I was at the piano playing Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer”. Close to the end I had a weird feeling that someone was watching, so I turned around. Three of the guys were standing in the doorway with their hands over their hearts and tears in their eyes. It was very touching.

But I wondered how they recognized the piece, as it’s in English, taken from an English translation of the Bible. Is it a universal piece? Is the music the same in other parts of the world, but translated into those other languages? I still wonder.

That’s a wonderful story!

I had a similar experience. On a CD of Acapella chorale works, a song came on in Old Church Slavonic (similar to Russian). My mind started to instantly sing The Lord’s Prayer with the melody. (in English) It fit perfectly. I checked the label and the song was entitled “Ochen Nash(Our Father)” by someone named “M.Kedrov”).

It also works with Bach’s “Air on a G String”, for me, anyway.

"Spiritual Sheet Music" given by God to spread His Word.

Beautiful analogy.
Praying Psalm 91 over Israel, America, and the world. May GOD's umbrella of protection shield those He loves.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 32

Of David. A Maskil.

1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up* as by the heat of summer.
Selah

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’,
and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah

6 Therefore let all who are faithful
offer prayer to you;
at a time of distress,* the rush of mighty waters
shall not reach them.
7 You are a hiding-place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.
Selah

8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle,
else it will not stay near you.

10 Many are the torments of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

Music, math, real science—all universal and created by God. He’s got a universal way for us to communicate in Heaven no doubt powered by the Holy Spirit. Looking forward to that experience. The Pentecost must have blown away the people present!
