Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 1
Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven
1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.”
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD My Redeemer
When Things Look the Darkest,
Help Me To Trust in Your Promise
And in Your Word.
Help Me to See YOU,
And not the seemingly insurmountable troubles that beset me.
For You Promise that You Will Not Allow anything that is too much to bear,
And You Are My Redeemer!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Because of its style and personal introduction, The Book of Acts is thought to have been authored by Luke, the Greek Physician. However, the events of the Book of John lead very naturally into the Book of Acts, so here we go!
Some of us have never read the entire New Testament from start to finish, and know the Gospel stories from Readings in Church. In the days before the Printing Press, that was the only way people got to hear the Gospel. What makes up the New Testament were originally precious bits of paper passed around to all the churches and meticulously copied so everybody could benefit from them. This makes the Books of the New Testament the most documented work of Ancient Literature there is, far exceeding other Ancient Works.
If you will bear with me, I will attempt to take us through the entire New Testament, one story at a time. It will be the first time I ever attempted such a big project on this thread.
What kind of a name is "Theophilus"? He isn't mentioned anywhere else in the Bible except ONCE, in the Introduction to Luke's Gospel. Was he a Disciple? A friend of Dr. Luke? We don't know.
However, Luke could be talking to YOU, as "Theophilus" means "One Who Loves God". Perhaps Luke is talking to all of us, explaining the Stories of both Christ and the first generation of Believers to people who are "seekers", people who love God, but don't really know Him yet. The Book of Acts reads like a screenplay, with whole speeches (by Stephen, Peter, and Paul), action (healings, miracles, shipwrecks, prison breaks, people falling out of windows, a king being struck dead with a wormy disease, rescues, escapes, storms, snakebites, and other cool stuff), and the Hand of God all the way through. We get insight into the personalities of the Apostles, and even see them have a few arguments. (Not a physical fight, but certainly dramatic).
Since The Book of Acts is only 28 Chapters long, I read it through every month, and have been for at least 15 years, so that's a lot. It shows you how much I enjoy this Book.
The way things are happening in the World Today, many of us are asking the same question the Apostles asked Jesus. Nowhere else in History do such "coincidences" line up the way they are in the Middle East. While we may NOT know the Day or the Hour, it sure looks like it's going to be SOON. Unfortunately, I think we are going to see more horrors before His Feet touch the Mount of Olives and He Returns "the same way He left."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 65
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.

LORD, in joyful obedience to Your command I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the chosen city in which Your Name dwells, both now and forevermore. I join in a prayer of agreement with all who love her and call for peace within her gates. May the light of Jerusalem be a sign to the nations of Your covenant with Your people and a witness to all peoples of Your sovereign power and faithfulness. LORD, hear my prayer.
SCRIPTURES:
“For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place” (Psalm 132:13)
“So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy…” (Joel 3:17)
For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My Name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually” (2 Chronicles 7:16)
PRAYER:
LORD we join with the work of Your Spirit and pray for Messiah, Son of David, to come quickly and to stand upon Your Holy Mountain and establish his throne forever. LORD, hear my prayer.
