Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 21

Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish

21 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee.[a] It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus[b]), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.[c] 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
Our LORD Mighty In Battle
You are The One Who Stands For Us
Amidst The Raging Foes.
You Are Our Sheltering Tower,
You Are Our Champion.
All human heroes will eventually fail us,
No matter how well-intentioned they may be.
But You never fail.
You Alone are the One True God Over All!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Please keep praying about the situation in Israel. The cruelty of the enemy is staggering. This is proof that we battle "not against flesh and blood" but against vile spiritual entities and EVIL itself. We can't fight evil in our own strength, as the Apostle Peter found out the hard way. His shame at denying Jesus THREE TIMES was such that he figured he was useless for ministry. "At Least I have my Fishing Business to fall back on."

As a Christian, there is no "Fall Back Position." There is only Forward. The Armor of the Lord (Ephesians 6) does not have a Plate of Armor for your Backside. Here is a little story I wrote some time ago about the "Fall Back Position":

The Electric Bass Guitar is a fairly recent addition to the long history of musical instruments. In order to get the volume needed for really low notes, the non-amplified acoustic had to have a huge sound-box. Thus we have The enormous guitar that plays the bass part in Mariachi bands, the almost comical bass-balalaika in Russian ensembles, and, of course, the huge Double Bass (also called the "Bull-Fiddle) that graces Classical Orchestras, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, and Early Rock'n'Roll. Not only are these Behemoths unwieldy and fragile, so much that one will not fit in a normal-sized car, but they are so expensive that a single replacement string can cost over $100. It takes a very dedicated musician to play one of these, as I found out many years ago as I was walking down Huntington Av in Boston, home to Symphony Hall, The New England Conservatory, and Northeastern.

A young student schlepping a Bull Fiddle came up and asked me, "Do you know how to get to Symphony Hall?"

At first I was going to give the classic Henny Youngman response, "PRACTICE!", but looking at the size of what he was carrying and imagining it being smashed over my head, I replied, "You're almost there. It's on the next block, this side."

In the 1950's, Leo Fender came up with an alternative. It was called The Fender Precision Bass Guitar and, though still larger than an electric guitar, was played the same way. The bass LINES, however, weren't much different than the ones played on the upright bull-fiddle. It took pioneers such as James Jameson (in the MOTOWN crew) to make the bass lines a signature of the song. When that bass-line starts, you know what song is going to ensue.

Because the Electric Bass is still considered a "new" instrument in the general history, bass players are the object of many jokes. Nigel, in "This Is Spinal Tap" gets trapped in a huge plastic pod onstage and needs to be rescued with a blowtorch, for example. The classic response to the statement "I play bass" is "What's your REAL job?" etc.

When I started playing bass in 2004, I noticed that EVERY bass player I knew had been to CULINARY SCHOOL. This was so that he would have something "to fall back on" in case he failed as a bass player. Not only have I not gone to CULINARY SCHOOL, but MY favorite thing to make for dinner is RESERVATIONS. I am in a lot of trouble.

Poor Peter! He had not only washed out as a Disciple, he had denied his Master THREE TIMES, with curses and oaths, even.

But at least he had the ol' fishing business to fall back on...and THAT didn't seem to be working out too well either.

The very places I visited in 1984 are under attack. Even the little town of Metulla, on the Lebanese Border is being breached by a coordinated attack by terrorists on motorcycles. The money financing the attack has been shown to be coming from Iran. And...where did Iran get the money? I'll give you three guesses. That makes the USA an accessory to murder. Even so, Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Oh Lord, help us to continue forward on that path to You. We have no fall back position. Our only victory is in You.

You are our light in this dark and fallen world.

AMEN.

Father God,

Protect Your people in this dark hour. Thwart the plans of their enemies, and in the midst of the night, may the light of Jesus shine down on them. May they believe.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Lord God,

We are so grateful we can and are encouraged to call on you in times of trouble as is now faced by Israel as they are under violent attack by their enemies. We ask that you be Israels wisdom as they face hard and difficult decisions - that you would be their strong tower and arm to protect their country and peoples. Let Israels peoples mount up, come together and do what they need to to withstand this onslaught.

We pray for Israels enemies that you confuse and confound their thinking Lord...let their future plans come to nothingness as they plot their evil. Let them be found out and revealed as the violent hate filled people that the Palestinians are...and grant understanding to the world leaders so that they might support Israel in this war.

All in your great and almighty name.
Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 53

To the leader: according to Mahalath. A Maskil of David.

1 Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they commit abominable acts;
there is no one who does good.

2 God looks down from heaven on humankind
to see if there are any who are wise,
who seek after God.

3 They have all fallen away, they are all alike perverse;
there is no one who does good,
no, not one.

4 Have they no knowledge, those evildoers,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?

5 There they shall be in great terror,
in terror such as has not been.
For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly;*
they will be put to shame,* for God has rejected them.

6 O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
