According to Stanley’s logic if there is anything I desire strong enough to call my “identity” it can’t be a sin.

I have a very close friend that would be dead or in prison if not for Jesus Christ. That is not an exaggeration; if anything, it is an understatement. His issue is violence. He has told me that he used to enjoy it more than sex. It is fair to say that it was his identity.

I ask readers consider the implications of his situation. We currently recognize that if my friend were to act on his urges he would be condemned by society and go to prison for murder, if not for assault (another understatement). We have laws regarding our agreement as a society, based on Judeo-Christian values, that assault and murder are wrong. We used to agree that homosexuality was also wrong.

Please understand, I am NOT at all trying to draw a parallel between homosexuality and murder, nor am I suggesting we make homosexuality a crime. What I am trying to do is draw attention to the mechanism in America that was (and is) being used to change people's minds regarding right and wrong. This is important.

In the Washington DC Holocaust museum the visitor starts on the top floor. I was surprised at how modern the lives and dwellings were for late 30's/early 40's Jews in Germany. But as one spirals down floor to floor, the things shown to the visitor change. One sees the results and suffering brought on by economic collapse and hyper inflation. There is the propaganda that was everywhere, particularly the schools. Turmoil and division were refocused and redirected by the one who had created it in the first place. It is a simplistic review, I admit; but it is sufficient to remind those who know that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood. Neither did the Germans as they allowed themselves to be used.

So now, as we all see our society distort logic and reason, as we watch leadership and the media warp truth into lies, remember how an entire country was convinced to allow, or even actively participate in, the murder of an estimated 17 million people. Stop focusing your attention on the storm and keep your eyes on Christ. I am not advocating for intentional ignorance; we are told to watch for the signs. I am saying that our focus must be on Jesus Christ and the truth of God's word or we will all sink just like Peter.
