Because I listened to the entire "sermon," I can offer an opinion as a non-Catholic. It seems to me he is as persuasive as was Bishop Sheen. Were I to spend more time on this single issue, I would in a scholarly way check his references, direct from the church fathers.

I followed for awhile the distinctions between " munus" and "ministerium," and I don't think the separation being somehow rejoined with the death of Benedict makes sense. Viganò like Altman seems to speak in the tradition and with a clarity for the world which the "Kamala Harris" version of a pope -- a trendy Wendy with word salad aplenty -- simply does not.

I count myself fortunate to have heard many fine Catholic, Protestant and Jewish thinkers speak in person. None, flavored with the "pride" themes and identity politics. This seems like an interim period in history -- an interregnum -- before the "next" emerges with clarity. It won't be as many imagine....
