BEVERLY SHORES, Ind. (ChurchMilitant.com) - An Indiana bishop is using the liturgy to push environmental politics on Catholics.
Wednesday, Gary's bishop, Robert McClory, will celebrate a so-called Green Mass at St. Ann of the Dunes in Beverly Shores in honor of the so-called Season of Creation.
"Within the Catholic Church, a Green Mass is appropriately celebrated during the Season of Creation, which begins on Sept. 1 (the World Day for Prayer for the Care of Creation) and continues to Oct. 4 (the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi)," the diocese's press release stated. "The theme chosen for Season of Creation 2023 is 'Let Justice and Peace Flow.'"
The Season of Creation is a propagandist ecumenical initiative dedicated to promoting the leftist hierarchy's 'green gospel.' Pope Francis has been affiliated with the initiative since 2015.
According to Catholic Climate Covenant
A 'Mass for Creation' is a celebration of God's creation. Many dioceses and parishes are celebrating the Season of Creation (Sept. 1–Oct. 4), the Feast of St. Francis (Oct. 4), and/or the anniversary of Laudato Si' (May 23) with a special Mass (a 'Mass for Creation' or sometimes called a 'Green Mass' or 'Laudato Si' Mass') celebrated by the bishop, auxiliary bishop(s), or the vicar general. The 'Mass for Creation' liturgy is chosen to bring to light the important theme of Catholic Social Teaching that we are called to intentionality and responsibility around issues of stewardship through the lens of an integral ecology; care for creatures, care for the earth, care for water, and care for each other.
"It will be a beautiful Mass celebrating all of God's creation and praying that we will be good stewards of that creation, attentive to the needs of the planet and of our brothers and sisters — a time of fellowship with like-minded Catholics," commented Beth Casbon, moderator for the diocesan Social Teaching Commission.
To give a sense of what the commission is about, the diocese's press release detailed, "In recent years, the Social Teaching Commission gave a presentation to the Diocesan Pastoral Council on the topic of racism, specifically on how thoughts and actions on this issue should be informed by Catholic Social Teaching."

The commission organized and sponsored a Charity Summit in 2019 to call attention to the Christian obligation to be charitable and identify how local charitable efforts are funded, coordinated and delivered. The group also organized and sponsored a summit in 2021 focusing on Pope Francis' encyclical, 'Laudato Si'': Caring for our Common Home.' The objectives of this event were to call attention to an urgency in caring for the Earth and to help parishes identify opportunities to uphold life and care for all of God's Creation.
While details are not readily available on how McClory will celebrate Mass, Catholic Climate Covenant provides resources for dioceses looking to get involved in the propaganda. One template originates from a Mass offered in 2022 by the archdiocese of Chicago's Fr. Richard Fragomeni. That liturgy consisted of hymns such as "For the Beauty of the Earth" and "Touch the Earth Lightly."
In the archdiocese of Atlanta's 2022 so-called Green Mass, some of the prayers of the faithful included, "For our world leaders, that they may accept the reality of climate change and enact policies that reflect a more mindful attitude of stewardship to undo the damage to our fragile planet and to care for the hungry: we pray to the Lord" and "For all people, that they may be attentive to the needs of the planet and receive the grace to respect and care for God's creation: we pray to the Lord."
Pope Francis recently revealed his intention to release "a second Laudato Si'" on Oct. 4. All this comes as a group of over 1,600 international scientists and experts last month signed a declaration claiming there is no "climate emergency" or "cause for panic and alarm." The group declared:
To believe the outcome of a climate model is to believe what the model makers have put in. This is precisely the problem of today's climate discussion to which climate models are central. Climate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science. Should not we free ourselves from the naive belief in immature climate models?
A number of U.S. bishops have fallen for the phony climate agenda. The Deposit of Faith Coalition aims to expose the U.S. bishops' promotion of climate change hysteria and other anti-America agendas.
A recent episode of The Download featured a review outlining the coalition's work and outcomes. Church Militant also devoted over 600 hours of research to produce an exposé debunking the counterfeit climate narrative.
