Didn't the Council of Trent give the then new Jesuit order some credibility and even put the Jesuits in charge of the schools that trained priests and bishops? And weren't the Jesuits the loudest about papal supremacy and less power among councils?

Then to answer Lefebvre's question is that the Council of Trent members would probably support whatever the Vatican wanted.

The Jesuits of today are not the same as the Jesuits at the time of the Council of Trent- in fact they were suppressed in 1773- likely for getting too involved in politics.
