I was at a grace Bible church today where the pastor spoke glowingly of Augustine, the founder of both Catholicism and Calvinism (thus, by extension, preterism). He was a rather young person so I chalked it up to his sheer ignorance, a newbie from seminary.

My problem with amillennialism is that it allegorizes the Book of Revelation. If prophecy is allegorized and if the creation narrative is treated otherwise, why should we believe the Gospels? If the Bible is without error, then we must assume that unless the context indicates that it is figurative, the statements should be taken as fact. Hopefully, your pastor was talking about some aspect of Augustine other than his view of the end times.
