Over 20 years ago several of us led the fight against our local school board BEFORE they voted on our county’s sex education curriculum.

We organized parents, pastors, civic leaders, etc across our county.
Because I had been given a copy of the curriculum ( as I belonged to my child’s ‘school improvement committee’…..I realized it was NOT appropriate for our children…….
…..but that wasn’t suppose to be a problem because it had already been passed by the Florida Legislature………and our little committee as well as other little committees across the county were just supposed to ‘rubber stamp ‘ it!

We made copies and disseminated then across the county…..we had ‘curriculum parties’ in our homes,……,,we organized our own committee of parents, pastors, etc to lead this and essentially say to the school board….THIS SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!!!!!
And we won !……our ‘win’ lasted many years!
They didn’t accept our alternate curriculum, but they DID rewrite theirs to reflect ABSTINENCE ONLY as their goal, and believe me, that was a big win!

We, the little people, CAN make a difference!
