I thought it was a good scriptual study of demons. I listened to the entire 1 hr 13 minutes.

While I don’t agree with a few of his speculations. It was good to hear the Old Testament scriptures regarding demons.

I liked the way he differentiated between the various types of spirits, explaining that there are spirits that are souls without physical bodies that are not demons.

He went into detail about Psalm 82 and the various types of gods, using this to explain that thrre are many types of demons too. I was surprised that he didn’t mention John 10 where Jesus quotes Psalm 82 when refuting the Pharisees and stated (my paraphrase) “Doesn’t your scripture say that Ye too are gods?”

Jesus used Psalm 82 to explain that it is not blasphemy for Him to say that He is the Son of God, if their scripture states that they too are gods.

I take this a step further and quote John 14 where Jesus explains that if He is in us, then our Father that is in Him is also in us. We too are children of God.

Overall, it was a lot of academic theorizing that lacked experiental depth of understanding, but was good.

What is 2nd temple Jewish literature ? I assume it's not scripture or he would be referencing which book of the O.T. Is it the writings of the Jewish mysticis ? ( kabala ? ) Google says it's.. … is known to us through a number of literary sources— ...anonymous works.... that imitate or seek to interpret the Bible and were preserved by later Christian … \ The literature associated with this tradition includes the books ...., Sirach (- Sirach ? Funny, none of my bibles has that book.-) / OT Pseudepigrapha; 5. Rabbinic Literature; 6. Philo; 7. Targums; ( ?????? Those aren't in any of my bibles either ) \/ Ok, I see where this is going. I know a lot of where Dr. Heiser is coming from. I'd encountered the divine council concept in Meredith Kline, so it wasn't all that jarring to encounter the concept of elohim as a class of non-corporeal beings.

I'm most interested here, actually, in what he might have to say about "mind reading". We don't know what goes on in other person's heads. We don't have direct access to anyone's mind but our own. We know, by questioning, that there are people who do not visualize, and people that don't have an internal monologue. I suspect that minds are something that develop uniquely for each individual, and if we did have access to what's going on in someone else's head, it would be a meaningless jumble to us.

He seems to put much trust in the writings of the levitical priests,,, the same priests that had idols in their temple store roooms,, that disobeyed God multiple times ,,, the same class of folks that rejected Messiah,,, the same class that stoned Steven for being an uneducated layman telling THEM what was what. And im supposed to learn from their writings ? Brother please. Still, I will try and get to the end, but if it doesn’t redeem itself soon you won’t see me post to this thread again.
