As I’m sure you know, Protestants don’t venerate Mary nearly as much as Catholics do. I suppose that’s where an objection might be.

I would strongly disagree with any such objections. Catholics and Protestants both get all the important things right. Sure, there is some disagreements around the edges. That is to be expected.

Anyone who demands 100% agreement from his fellow Christians would soon find himself in a church consisting of one member.

As a Protestant here, respectfully, is my take with praying the rosary:

1. Proclaiming the prayer in the name of the Trinity. Cool beans.

2. Apostles Creed. Love it. Particularly with the word "catholic" in the original Latin meaning world-wide church (as opposed to a local church like the Church in Sardis, etc.). Extend that to today, it's a reminder that God's church is not just the local church I attend and serve at.

3. Acts of Contrition. Love it. We all should pray humbly and ask forgiveness.

4. Lord's prayer. Love it. Not only does it make sense. Most importantly Jesus Himself said to pray it. However I suggest reading Luke 11:1-13 and don't stop where we normally do (verse 4), but keep praying the rest of what He said to pray for: the Holy Spirit (verses 11-13). And specifically, pray repeatedly (verses 5-10) for the Holy Spirit (verses 11-13). 5. Hail Mary. Nope. Us Protestants, IMHO, are doing a better job than we used to of respecting Mary as one of our Bible heroes. But hailing her or anybody else besides the Trinity? Nope.

7. Glory be to the parts of the Trinity. Good stuff!

8. The praise to God for the various steps in Jesus' coming, living, serving, dying for our sins, and raising from the dead. Totally awesome dude!

9. Hail again to Mary, with a whole paragraph of praying to her? Nope. Nope. Nope. Calling her "Mother" with capital "M"? Nope. Nope. Nope. Begging for mercy from her? Nope. Nope. Nope.

So it looks to me like Mary herself gets about 1/4th of the prayer time. Almost like she's part of the Trinity. I'm surprised they're not called the Quadrity. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Enjoy your perspective. Jesus himself taught us to pray; and, he didn't mention his mother. So, you believe the obviously infallible Pope is you wish. Jesus, who is God, disagrees with you and the Pope.

You are getting it right.

Here is an old joke: What happens when two Jews get together? You get three opinions. What happens when three Baptists get together? You get two congregations. What happens when four Methodists get together? Nothing, but they eat pretty well.
