The Catholic Church offers this as one Biblical basis for Purgatory:

Corinthians 3:14–15

If anyone’s work will remain, which he has built up, he will receive a reward; if anyone’s work will be burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself, however, will be saved, but, in this manner: as through fire.

This has nothing to do with purgatory but is about rewards for deeds done or not done. Context my friend…context.

If not this contradicts Romans where Paul cites the OT regarding the man whose sins have been covered.
