She might have been afraid upon first seeing Gabriel. But then Gabriel quickly put her at ease. (“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God." - Luke 1:30)
She was likely initially afraid, but then unafraid.
But so what? Her current status in Heaven does not rest upon her initial reaction to Gabriel.
Not the point. A RC was claiming Mary wasn’t afraid in contradiction of Scripture. Which is true of so much RC theology as regards Mary.
