Luke 23:55The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed. 56Then they returned to prepare spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.

Luke wrote about it 30 years after the fact. If the literal 4th commandment had changed in any way (you say no command to keep it literally and physically, and now only spiritually), it would have happened on FRIDAY, at the death of Christ. But it didn't.

Game, set, match. You lose.

Just because it's not recorded doesn't mean it didn't happen. we know God instituted the sabbath at Creation.

C'mon Bob- You believe "God instituted" the sabbath at creation.
You have no evidence to make that an absolute.
And thats where Faith comes in- good.
But you can't brush aside that what we DO KNOW from Gen 2 or 3-
and that is God punished Adam with toil and burden after they sinned.
So we can say God intended life in Paradise to be without sin, without burden, and a life we cannot imagine from where everything from intellect to sexuality would be much more greatly advanced.
Enter satan.

Christ's mission turned all that upside down like the tables in the Temple.
There would be no need for a 3rd Jewish Temple-
no need for dietary laws, as Christ we KNOW Christ said "Nothing we eat defiles us".
We KNOWhe admonished those who placed unnecessary burdens on the Jewsh people, namely sabbath rules for them.
And we KNOW Jesus' successors decided the law of Circumcision could and should be circumvented.

In these early days of Christianity KNEW The Word (and the Law) became flesh- and the Commandments of that Word becoming Flesh gave us NEW commandments
to which fulfilling the Laws and the Prophets made them secondary.
Someone came along 1800 years later and decided
the Holy Spirit finally woke up- and it was all wrong up unitil then.
I wish you luck with that- I really do. Always remember, His Law is written in Our Hearts.
The MoraL or Natural Law existed before Sinai or Levtcus.
Always remember, God does not need anything- not even us.
He certainly doesn't need our any of our self-aggrandizing pelagianism-
in how well we adhere to our earthly conventions.
We cannot do anything to save ourselves.

Finally, If the God you Worship -would be so petty to be obsessed
with what day of the week he should have our attention-
I would say to anyone...
it's time to look for a New God.

Bob, You get the last Word.

“There’s only one weekly Sabbath ever mentioned in the bible and that’s God’s Holy 7th-day-Sabbath.”

You always answer with these generic statements that show you only talk and don’t listen.

Other people may be claiming Sunday is the new Saturday. I never said that. But you just post knee-jerk responses that have nothing to do with what I’ve said.

“Doing away with the ‘Sabbath’ would have created an uproar the likes that would have been discussed all through the new testament and certainly after. The Jews would have flipped out, even 100 times more than the circumcision issue.”

Jews who followed Jesus continued to circumcise their male children, physically rest on the Sabbath, and even follow ceremonial laws. Gentiles did not.

There was no uproar caused by allowing Gentiles to continue doing as they always had done, which is to do physical work on the Sabbath (outside of Israel). Because of the Roman occupation Jews could not even demand that Romans (such as Roman soldiers) respect the Sabbath, although this was part of the original ordinance as part of civil law. Jews never tried to spread the Sabbath rest to Gentiles because they always understood it to be a sign for Israel. There was an uproar caused by people lying and claiming Paul was telling Jews to forsake the Law of Moses. He did not. See Acts 21.

“It occurs every 7th day, as it has since creation, as set forth by our Creator, a day blessed and sanctified. It is called THE Sabbath day, and will last forever.”

It’s funny how you think some things God calls eternal are eternal, but other things He calls eternal you think are temporary.

The Old Creation was formed in 6 days and God rested on the seventh day. The New Creation started when Christ was raised from the dead.

New covenant. New creation. New life. New Commandments. New heart. New mind. Serving God in the newness of spirit, and NOT in the oldness of the letter.

If Christians are the Israel of God, why don’t we go claim the land of Israel as our own? Oh, wait, wasn’t there something about a New Jerusalem? A heavenly city? Yes. Yes. I think I read that somewhere.

New Heaven. New Earth. All things made new.

“Those who break it, teach others to break it, or otherwise dump on it, will not be in heaven.”

Lol. Or otherwise dump on you, God’s marvelous spokesman, huh?

I’m almost tempted to spend a little time visiting a church that believes what you claim about the Sabbath for one reason. I have a friendly bet with a friend that anyone who preaches this is probably very lazy. I might be wrong, but I am curious. I have a feeling though that most people who think physically resting on the Sabbath is meritorious with God that they entirely ignore the other half of the 4th commandment—the part about work. You know you are supposed to work 6 days per week, right?

Do you believe that people who work less than 6 days per week are going to Hell for breaking the Sabbath?

“It is literally the seal of God’s authority. God’s people keep His commandments out of love for Him. All others who say they do, but don’t, are liars, and the truth is not in them. Liars will not be in heaven.”

The Gospel according to Philsworld is a false Gospel with a false Jesus that will send him and the adherents of his religion to Hell.

Warning against false Gospel:

Galatians 1:8 NKJV
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

The method of the Gospel:

I Corinthians 1:21 NKJV
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

What hearers need to know:

I Corinthians 15:1-8 NKJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

What the Gospel does:

Romans 1:16 NKJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

What the Gospel commands people to do:

Mark 1:14-15 NKJV
Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

On the commands of Christ, no one except Jesus has kept the Law, moral or otherwise. All people are condemned by the moral law of God, whether it is revealed in nature, the human heart, conscience, or scripture. Until there is repentance and God gives us a new heart it is impossible to please God or keep His commandments.

Christ introduced new commandments when He taught His disciples. He expanded on the moral law and applied it’s principles to the heart. He cited the foundation of the moral law as being the dual commands to love God and love our neighbor rather than the ten commandments. And even here, Christ gives a new commandment to love one another not merely as we love ourselves, but to love as He loved, and that is loving others more than we love ourselves.

Here is an example of a short list of Christ’s commands that went further than the Law of Moses:

http://www.discipleshiptools.org/apps/articles/default.asp?articleid=36885

(I have no affiliation with this site or ministry and am just providing a simple example.)

John 13:34-35 NKJV
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

It isn’t possible to keep His other commandments without the first step of faith:

I John 3:23 NKJV
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

“If the 7th-day-Sabbath commandment were included in the ceremonial/shadows/types, it would have ended on Friday, at Christ’s death, when his blood sealed the New Covenant. But it didn’t. And here’s how I know it… Luke 23:55The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed. 56Then they returned to prepare spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.”

You keep using strawman arguments. I’ve already addressed that because the Sabbath rest was given to Israel for a sign of God’s eternal covenant, Jews who follow Jesus still observe the physical rest. More importantly, they have entered into the spiritual rest God always intended to give them.

“You cannot show me a ‘thus sayeth the Lord’, because Christ never said it, BECAUSE HE SAID THE EXACT OPPOSITE in Matthew 5.”

In the sermon on the mount, Jesus referred to the Law and Prophets, not just the ten commandments, when He said not one jot or tittle would pass until all is fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled the Law by living the perfect life, dying the perfect death, and being raised to immortality.

“Keeping” His commandments is much more than doing. It means learning, treasuring, remembering, and obeying. The Law, including the ten commandments, is fulfilled in those who believe, by the imputation of Christ’s obedience.

Romans 4:5-6 KJV
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.

“Without works” is an interesting choice of words. It’s almost as if Paul had a Sabbath-like rest in mind when he said this.

“Can you show me anywhere in the bible where Paul says something like ‘keeping the 7th-day-Sabbath is nothing, and not keeping it nothing’?”

Yes.

Galatians 6:13-15 NKJV
For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

Why is this “like” what you said? Because Paul, in Colossians, puts Sabbaths in the same category as Circumcision. No matter how much you want that passage to say something else, like “non-7th-day Sabbaths” or “special-shadowy-thing-like-sabbaths”, it says “Sabbaths”. And it would not say “feasts” (which are among the non-7th-day-Sabbaths) AND “Sabbaths” if 7th-day-Sabbaths were not included.

“The 7th-day-Sabbath DIDN’T POINT TO CHRIST in any ceremonial/shadows/types sense and therefore never can. IT COMMEMORATES CREATION AND THE CREATOR’S AUTHORITY.”

Only a small number of things are specifically CALLED types/antitypes. That does not mean that this short list is all there is. Paul is informing us that the Sabbaths are a shadow of things to come. And they certainly do more than commemorate creation. They remind Israel of God delivering them from slavery in Egypt. They speak of a coming rest which, as Hebrews points out, they never entered into. And that rest is in the finished work of Christ.

John 5:39 NKJV
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

All scripture is about Jesus, including the Sabbath:

Luke 24:27 NKJV
And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

The Sabbath speaks of the deliverance from spiritual bondage and entering into the rest in Christ’s finished works:

Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Did Jesus have the Sabbath rest in mind when He said the above? Well, look at the very next passage:

Matthew 12:1-8 NKJV
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!” But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

And, of course, the conflict with Christ over the Sabbath continues. Your religion is centered around things that can be done carnally, without the Spirit. Focusing on the fleshly, carnal, letters, and words written with hands, you have become blind to the true meaning of the Sabbath. It’s about Christ and the spiritual rest He offers. God rested in the Old Creation, but it’s in the New Creation He’s given the true rest.

You continue to prove you NEVER read or listen... just speak out of complete ignorance.

I specifically brought up and addressed these issues:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/religion/4160858/posts?page=518#518

But you don’t read or consider. You prefer one-sided conversations where you just spew the heresy arguments you’ve accumulated. So, you remain in your blind ignorance.

The Sabbath rest from physical, work was a sign given to Jews.

As I’ve said repeatedly, JEWS continue to follow the Law of Moses, including circumcision and the Sabbath. The apostles even participated in the temple worship and offerings associated with it.

I’m not the one trying to change God’s commandments. You are. He NEVER gave a general command to Gentiles to rest on the Sabbath. You keep trying to change it.

There are no historical records of Christianity impacting the culture of the Roman Empire when it comes to slaves resting on the Sabbath. Jews were persecuted for their Sabbath observance, and these were the most notable times:

1. Hellenistic Period: In the Hellenistic era, which predates the formal establishment of the Roman Empire, Jews faced persecution under the Seleucid king Antiochus IV Epiphanes in the 2nd century BC. Antiochus sought to suppress Jewish religious practices, including Sabbath observance, leading to the Maccabean Revolt.

2. Roman Empire under Emperor Hadrian: In the 2nd century AD, Emperor Hadrian enacted measures against Jewish religious practices, including the observance of the Sabbath. These restrictions were part of Hadrian’s broader policies aimed at suppressing Jewish cultural and religious identity after the failed Bar Kokhba revolt in 132-135 AD.

3. Late Antiquity: During the late Roman Empire, particularly in the 4th and 5th centuries AD, there were instances of local persecution against Jews for Sabbath observance. This persecution was often fueled by religious intolerance and anti-Jewish sentiments prevalent in certain regions.

Christians were never generally persecuted for Sabbath observances. And there is no historical record of slaves in the Roman Empire ever being encouraged to rest on the Sabbath. Jews did not even believe Gentiles needed to rest on the Sabbath outside of Israel. If the apostles had taught slaves to rest on the Sabbath, it would have been a promotion of the Sabbath that even Jews did not do. And it would have resulted in the persecution of the Church for this specific reason, but that never happened. The Church was persecuted for other cultural reasons, but not the Sabbath (like the Jews were). Slaves worked 7 days per week throughout the Romans Empire, before and after the arrival of Christianity.

There is a direct connection between Christianity and the end of legalized slavery. The New Testament speaks in many places about slavery and freedom. These are discussed in their literal sense and figuratively. And there is a clear connection to the Sabbath:

Deuteronomy 5:12-15 NKJV
Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

Of course, this is yet another aspect of the Sabbath you ignore in your ignorance and blindness. Part of why the Sabbath’s physical rest is a special sign given to Israel (and not other nations) is because God delivered them supernaturally from their bondage in Egypt. It is a sign of this and not merely a remembrance of the original (first) Creation.

Do you see the word “therefore” in the last verse above? God gave the reason WHY Israel was to observe the Sabbath. It was because He rescued them from slavery.

Did He rescue the Gentiles from slavery? No, not from literal slavery. But He did rescue us from spiritual slavery. Likewise, there is a SPIRITUAL REST for God’s Heavenly people, as Hebrews says.

EVERY passage of the scriptures supports what I’ve been saying. I’ve answered EVERY objection with scripture. I’ve exposed EVERY false claim you’ve made.

Finally, If the God you Worship -would be so petty to be obsessed with what day of the week he should have our attention-

I've heard God called a lot of superlatives . . but petty? We are in His House. And therefore His rules. The Ten Commandments are not suggestions. They are perfect (Ps. 19:7). They last forever (Ps. 111:7,8) It's purpose is to point out sin (1John3:4) Not abolished by Christ (Matt 5:17). Written by God ((Ex 24:12) Faith establishes this law ((Rom 3:31) The Law is based on love. Our love towards God and love towards our fellow man. Gods nature is love and therefore the Law is a reflection of God. If you do not love the Law, you do not love God. You cannot love the Law unless the Holy Spirit dwells within you.

The world has been deluded about their duty to God. (2 Thess. 2:10, 11). If you think God will let sin slide in His New Heaven, you have been deluded. All of the world perished before in a Great Flood and it happen again in a different manner. Peace be unto you.

——>EVERY passage of the scriptures supports what I’ve been saying. I’ve answered EVERY objection with scripture. I’ve exposed EVERY false claim you’ve made.

I’m not the one jotting and tittling away God’s 10 commandments, you are. And, any claim that any one of God’s 10 commandments has in any way changed, or been done away with, is FALSE, HERESY, AND ACTIONABLE BY GOD.

In post 341 I made it very clear to you that EVERYTHING dealing with ceremonial/shadow/types, ended at the cross on FRIDAY afternoon, and forever. Luke makes it abundantly clear that the literal, physical 7th-day-Sabbath wasn’t included. That tells me that Luke, thereafter, kept the Sabbath, ACCORDING TO THE COMMANDMENT, and so did all of the other apostles, including Paul, ACCORDING TO THE COMMANDMENT. God’s 10 commandments also form the basis for the NEW COVENANT. Yes, the same 10 commandments that the old covenant was based on. The difference is that those in Christ keep them out of LOVE for Him.

https://www.biblelightinfo.com/covenant-seal.htm

Deu 4:13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

“The Old Covenant was a promise by the people of Israel to keep the letter of God’s Law, and the mediator of the Old Covenant was Moses”

How did the Old Covenant fail? … Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law.

Deu 5:27 Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
Deu 5:28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Deu 31:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

Rom 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

How is the New Covenant different?

Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

The animal sacrifices under the Old Covenant were mere symbols of the yet to be sacrificed lamb of God, whose sacrifice, death, and shed blood would inaugurate the New Covenant. The New Covenant is also made with Israel:

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised;

Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

**The terms or substance of the New Covenant are the SAME as that of the Old Covenant, obedience to the Ten Commandments. However, the New Covenant is a better promise, a promise by God to write His laws into the hearts and minds of the people of Israel, and to remember their sins no more.**

True. And, that means that their Sabbath attacks come from “another” spirit. That would be the same spirit that came up with all of their false doctrines (PTR, OSAS/OJAJ, etc...)

They say they are okay with 90% of Gods Laws. So they love God 90% of the way. God doesn’t grade on the curve. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).

No, it was always given to MANKIND, then inclusive to the Jews, as God’s chosen people, specifically. Now, it is a sign/seal of all who are “in Christ”, who recognize the Creator as their authority.

Those who dump on the literal and physical rest will never enter into God’s spiritual rest. You can’t have one without the other (I already pointed that out to you).

——>They say they are okay with 90% of Gods Laws.

Bob, it’s so much worse than that. FR biblical scholars openly state that God’s law ONLY applies to the unsaved, NOT them. They are under no AUTHORITY to keep any of God’s commandments, especially the 4th, the one that God says to remember, the one that actually gives God His AUTHORITY, as our Creator. They all think willful, unrepentant lawlessness won’t keep them out of heaven. Christ will still welcome them with open arms.

Nope!

Matthew 7:
21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’

SPIRITUAL Israel, not literal. Literal Israel ended with the Stoning of Stephen, and exactly 3.5 years after Christ’s death, according to Daniel’s 70 week prophecy.

I’m sure Lucifer and the rebellious angels made arguments about how they shouldn’t be restricted or held to any standard at all. Maybe they said Gods laws only apply to humans but surely not them. Everybody looking for a loophole. Everybody says “I want to do my own thing”. As I said before, it’s Gods House and His rules. There is no life apart from God. That must chap Satan to know his very existence is dependent upon God and without His support, he ceases to exist.

——>I’m almost tempted to spend a little time visiting a church that believes what you claim about the Sabbath for one reason.

——>Do you believe that people who work less than 6 days per week are going to Hell for breaking the Sabbath?

I agree with the SDA bible commentary and John Gill.

9. Shalt thou labour. This is a permission rather than a command. What work is to be done should be performed on the first six days of the week, so that the Sabbath, which comes on the seventh day, may be free for the worship and service of God. **SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY

Six days shalt thou labour,.... This is not to be taken for a precept, but a permission; not as a command enjoining men to work and labour with their hands, to provide for themselves and families things useful and necessary, and honest in the sight of God; but as a grant and allowance of so many days to employ themselves in, for their own profit and advantage, and that of their families; the Lord only reserving one day out of seven for his service, which ought to be looked upon as a singular favour, that he required no more of their time for his use, and the rest they might spend as they pleased, so that they did not indulge themselves in sin. It is required indeed of all men to labour in some sort and way or another, with their heads or with their hands; though all are not obliged to labour in the same way, or to the same degree, for he that will not work ought not to eat; but this law is not an injunction of that kind, only a toleration of labour on the six days of the week, if proper and necessary, when it is forbidden on the seventh:

and do all thy work, which is incumbent on a man, he is called unto, and is necessary to be done for the good of him and his family; particularly care should be taken, that all should be done on the six days that could possibly be done, and nothing left to be done on the seventh. **Gill’s Exposition of the Whole Bible

Yep. Anyone who claims that God’s law isn’t mandatory and binding on them, not only gives Satan plenty of support, but clearly follows his (Satan’s) AUTHORITY.

You always seem to require pointing to massive external resources rather than doing the heavy lifting of addressing specific issues.

Very lazy for someone who is commanded by God to work 6 days per week.

“SPIRITUAL Israel, not literal. Literal Israel ended with the Stoning of Stephen, and exactly 3.5 years after Christ’s death, according to Daniel’s 70 week prophecy.

No.

Nice theory there. But are you and those who share your views LAZY?

I’m curious. It’s an interesting religion built around the hard work of being lazy and making yourself in charge of how others use their liberty in Christ to serve Him.

Is there a maximum number of times you can pat yourself on the back in self-congratulations on the Sabbath?

As far as I can tell, you are an extremely lazy person, as evidenced by your unwillingness to lift a finger to address the MANY issues I’ve brought up.

As one simple example, you’ve chosen to simply ignore the historical case that NEVER did the apostles encourage slaves in the Roman Empire to take Sabbaths off. History records that wealthy Romans took lots of time off, but their slaves had to work 7 days per week. The apostles admonished slaves to do their masters’ bidding and never mentioned this obligation of yours that is supposedly a mark that determines salvation. Odd how they left out something so important from the Gospel message (unless it was NEVER part of the Gospel).

“I’m not the one jotting and tittling away God’s 10 commandments, you are. And, any claim that any one of God’s 10 commandments has in any way changed, or been done away with, is FALSE, HERESY, AND ACTIONABLE BY GOD.’

Yes, you are.

The fourth commandment, as appended by Philsworld:

Exodus 20:8-11 NKJV
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you [AND THE GENTILES] shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, [AND THE GENTILES THROUGHOUT ALL THE EARTH]. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Exodus 31:12-17 NKJV
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak also to the children of Israel [AND THE GENTILES], saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you [AND THE GENTILES] shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you [AND THE GENTILES] throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. You [AND THE GENTILES] shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you [AND THE GENTILES]. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Therefore the children of Israel [AND THE GENTILES] shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their [AND THE GENTILES’] generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel [AND THE GENTILES] forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”

Deuteronomy 5:12-15 NKJV
Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you [AND THE GENTILES]. Six days you [AND THE GENTILES] shall labor and do all your [AND THE GENTILES’] work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you [AND THE GENTILES] shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, [NOR THE GENTILES THROUGHOUT ALL THE EARTH] that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. And remember that you [AND EVERY ONE OF THE GENTILES] were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you [AND THE GENTILES] out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you [AND THE GENTILES] to keep the Sabbath day.

“In post 341 I made it very clear to you that EVERYTHING dealing with ceremonial/shadow/types, ended at the cross on FRIDAY afternoon, and forever.”

The church met in the temple after these things, and after the coming of the Holy Spirit, and God blessed this:

Acts 2:46-47 NKJV
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Paul celebrated the feast days:

Acts 18:21 NKJV
But [he] took leave of them, saying, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus.

Paul engaged in temple sacrifices long AFTER you claim these ended, and even after being personally trained by Christ for three years. He took a Nazarite vow and paid the fees at the temple for himself and 4 others, and engaged in animal sacrifice (as this is how purification was done):

Acts 21:26 NKJV
Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made for each one of them.

In chapter 24 Paul said he purified himself and brought alms for his nation (Israel, in case you’re confused) into the temple.

“The terms or substance of the New Covenant are the SAME as that of the Old Covenant, obedience to the Ten Commandments. However, the New Covenant is a better promise, a promise by God to write His laws into the hearts and minds of the people of Israel, and to remember their sins no more.”

The New Covenant was promised to Israel, and it was only revealed AFTER the death and resurrection of Christ, and the coming of the Holy Spirit, that Gentiles would become fellow heirs and partakers of the promises upon which the New Covenant is founded. But the issue of whether Gentiles had to convert to become Jews and follow the customs binding upon Jews, was settled at the first church council by the apostles. They definitively and permanently settled the issue for all time, declaring that Gentiles do not need to become Jews.

The principle of physically resting on the Sabbath was a SIGN of the covenant. It was given to ISRAEL. It was BECAUSE God delivered them from slavery. And God NEVER commanded the Gentiles to observe it except in the very limited way of requiring Gentiles in the land of Israel to follow it just like we would all local ordinances.

The Sabbath is further distinguished from the other 9 commandments in how it is treated by the apostles and other new testament writers. It is treated similarly to circumcision (Gentiles didn’t do it, but Jews continued the custom). Treating a day as holy or all days being alike is described as a matter of personal conviction as to how to best serve God. The Sabbath is treated as a spiritual principle of entering into the rest of Christ.

I’ve continued to give you scripture time and time again. And time and time again you ignore these things and try to change the subject. Your arguments come down to, “I have these arguments [which turn out to be lopsided, heretical treatment of the scriptures], and they PROVE everyone must physically rest on the Sabbath, and... therefore your [plain, exegetical exposition] doctrines MUST be wrong.” But you can never answer ANY of the reasoning and Biblical evidence I’ve endlessly provided for months.

But, by all means, continue. I’ve already done enough homework to write a book on the subject so I can potentially publish that and help many others who are not as stubborn and hard-hearted as you and will actually be like the Bereans and study whether these things are so.
