Catholic Catechism and "The Lord's Day" (I don't think so but you can) but I admire she didn't throw it out.

Section 2185 from Catholic Catechism:

On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are to refrain from engaging in work or activities that hinder the worship owed to God, the joy proper to the Lord's Day, the performance of the works of mercy, and the appropriate relaxation of mind and body.123 Family needs or important social service can legitimately excuse from the obligation of Sunday rest. the faithful should see to it that legitimate excuses do not lead to habits prejudicial to religion, family life, and health.

Today's evangelicals have pretty much abandoned any "Obligations" of Sunday. They turned the entire commandment into legalism and bondage.

Dang, at least Rome still upholds ALL ten commandments. The faithful are to "refrain from work or other activities......." I admire that at least. Wrong day, she can't change God's law and she cites no scripture authorizing the change. Just an event, the resurrection. No scripture showing Jesus changed the Sabbath. Just an event, the resurrection. No thank you. I am a protestant. Show me the money.....I mean the text. But at least she still upholds ALL ten commandments even if she changed one and even moved it from the 4th to the 3rd. Just as Daniel 7:25 said she would. Thank u now.

>>>Lord forbid you get an appendicitis on such a day>>>

hahaha.......Jesus covered that with the hypocrits who said you couldn’t heal a man on the Sabbath but it was ok to get your donkey out of a ditch.

Jesus restored the Sabbath to it’s true meaning. He went out of his way to perform miracles on the Sabbath, incensing the Pharisees who had like 600 rules about the Sabbath. Christ finally had to say......the Sabbath was made for man..not man for the Sabbath.

Amen...it was “made”....you can’t unake something he made. And it was made for man and it was made at creation. Not for a Jew only thousands of years later.

I received my liver transplant on a Sunday. What does that say about me, or the surgical team that performed it? Are they going to Hell for saving my life on a Sunday?
I was baptized into the Catholic Church as a baby, and received, I believe, all of the Sacraments. I question the Church’s authority and “wisdom” on this…

But if there's no biblical reference that makes Sunday the day of rest, maybe they came to the conclusion that they should still worship on Saturday.

Every Protestant Reformer saw it using prophecy and history. Clear as fine crystal.

No scripture showing Jesus changed the Sabbath.

The Resurrection...
JUST AN EVENT?

Are you serious?
Yes you certainly are a Protestant - who is clueless
about the fundamental being of Christianity.

You should seriously consider converting to Judaism
with the faith beliefs you say you have.

Catholics who have studied their faith as adults know that necessary work is permissible on Sundays. The command means not to do on Sunday work which can legitimately be put off til Monday, or try to do it on Saturday. Need groceries? Go to the store on Saturday. Need to save a life? Do it.

Leave the Church if you want, but not over a silly made-up falsity like yours.

Show me the text that changes the lords day to Sunday. For whatever reason. You can’t. It’s church tradition that came hundred years later. No text, no dice. You follow Rome. I follow the texts.

They didn’t have the benefit of matching prophecy with history. And, the book of Daniel was shut up to them.

Worrying about what day of the week...
appears to be the least of your misunderstanding.

Do you think I’m lying about having transplant surgery? I can assure you I an NOT, I am two years post-transplant and doing just fine, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I thank God EVERY DAY for the gift He has given me, and I pray for my donor, who was taken from his or her family too soon.

So take your holier-than-thou attitude and shove it.

This article, “From Sabbath to Sunday”, should answer your question about why Christians gathered on Sundays.

https://www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/from-sabbath-to-sunday

The following interview is absolutely fascinating for anyone interested in the Resurrection of Our Lord.

I think Paul would say you are majoring in minors.

Paul's epistles frequently contrast Law and Grace. Any “obligation” for keeping days, months or seasons is an attempt to please God through a work. There is liberty and redemption in Christ alone and none in any of our works. If we are trying to keep church-made laws to please God/Christ, we become just as lost as the Jews in Christ's day who believed keeping the 600+ laws of the Torah pleased God. The Lord is pleased when we believe and receive His Son. Period! It's not our sacrifices and obedience that please the Father, it's the sacrifice and obedience of His Son. We enter into Christ's sacrifice and obedience when we believe in and receive Him as the propitiation for our sin. If we believe our keeping of days, months or seasons is an obligation, we are missing what pleases the Father, which is Christ and the Holy Spirit in us.

“Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!  I fear for you, that my efforts for you may have been in vain. 12I beg you, brothers, become like me, for I became like you. You have done me no wrong.” - Paul writing in Galatians 4:8-12
