A few days ago, Francis sent a mobile phone video to the 16th Mariological Congress in Aparecida, Brazil, in which he approaches a reproduction of a Marian mosaic by Father Rupnik, located in a hall of Santa Marta, and explains in detail the meaning of the work (1:20). IlSismografo calls this behaviour of Francis “simply bewildering.”

The “Rosetta stone” of the Bergoglio pontificate is the comment from a retired Argentinean bishop who described the Peronist mentality: “To my friends, everything. To my enemies, not even justice.” Time and time again, this rubric proves useful in understanding why Bergoglio does what he does. Rupnik is Bergoglio’s friend, so he has free license to abuse, molest, lie, steal, apostasize or blaspheme.
So who is this Rupnik?
He’s a Slovenian Jesuit artist whose weird mosaics are a favorite of Bergoglio. He’s accused of sexually abusing multiple women including at least one nun, but Bergoglio is running interference for him. The media is notably incurious about the matter, for the same reasons that they’re incurious about the crimes and scandals of Joe and Hunter Biden.
