Former Archbishop of Canterbury Says Assisted Dying Is "A Great Act of Love"
The Daily Express ^ | 5/30/23 | Hanna Geissler

Former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey has joined calls for Parliament to be given time to debate assisted dying.

Lord Carey said it would be “an act of great generosity, kindness and human love” to help someone end their suffering if they choose to do so.

His views were set out in a submission to the Commons Health and Social Care Committee’s assisted dying inquiry.

He wrote: “It is profoundly Christian to do all we can to ensure nobody suffers against their wishes. Some people believe they will find meaning in their own suffering in their final months and weeks of life. I respect that, but it cannot be justified to expect others to share that belief.”

He said the Bible “contributes nothing directly to this debate” and that nothing in Christian teaching addresses the problem posed by the advancement of modern medicine.

So, the implication is that living is an act of hate?

There are conditions of life that are worse than death.

Among the worst of these is being a murderer, which assisting in dying makes you.

Fortunately there is a cure for that spiritual condition - seriously repenting to God of your sin. And fortunately there are even physical and mental cures for other kinds of pain and depression which many people might experience at the end of life.

With the medical tech we have today death can be drawn out longer and longer ...
We have always had “assisted” death. It's just always been quite and personal. In the hands of those closest.

Of course with the advent of “hospital” care or nursing homes ... a more distant hand holds sway.

I'm not much of a fan of turning the last few moments of life into hours, days or months of death.

So ... just keep the government out of it .. no good can come from that.

In the British system the PM writes the King's speeches, and the King delivers the speeches.
Whereas the Archbishop of Canterbury both writes and delivers God's speeches.

Of course -- modernist theology -- "God" is a metaphor for ruling class interests.

\/

None

that I would want to drug into paralysis

so I couldn’t hear their screams of anguish

as they were deprived food and water

as they died an excruciating painful death

of dehydration and renal failure.

Next question.

There are conditions of life that are worse than death.

Few disagree, but when you start making it government policy we have a problem.

The argument that doctors keep the sick and old alive is not new...Plato says this in the Republic, which is why the Hippocratic oath says doctors should not do this.

and the Nazis used it to justify killing the retarded and mentally ill.

Once you start, the list of who should die gets larger, as one can see in Canada and Europe.

Soros organizations have been pushing the idea since the mid 1980s.

But the real reason is that there are too many old people and the plan is to encourage them to kill themselves to save money

Minorities already don't trust doctors and most won't sign DNR orders.

And once this is considered a good treatment, docs and nurses will do it without permission.

The hospice people paint a fairly rosy picture of terminal dehydration.

I seen my dad go thru years of cancer pain... There absolutely no way I’m gonna go thru something like that. If I one day get the bad news, I’m going on a nice vacation, hiring me some younger female companionship... ...2 or 3 at a time, and then upon my return write a letter to all those I love and then end it...

A lot of bishops are full of shit and I understand a lot of these comments are biased because of it. But on this issue I sthttps://thefederalistpapers.org/us/customers-say-bye-bye-j-crew-rolls-disturbing-new-kids-shirt-4-wordsand neutral...

About 1/4 of health care costs, or about 4% of US GDP, are incurred during the last 18 months of life.

Dying is big business!
