What concerns me a lot lately are those folks who have given their lives to their churches thinking that doing so is the same as giving their lives to God. They don't commit any of the so-called "dirty" sins (adultery, robbery, stealing, murder, and cussing), but are filled with pride over their seemingly tidy lives.
And then there are some (including some famous preachers) who are extremely proud of their knowledge of Scripture, but lack the humility that a servant would have.
Depressing and worrying.
Born and brought up in the Church, I think I suffered the sin of pride, believing I knew all there was to know of the Bible. Then purely by happenstance, one evening listening to the radio I encountered a gentleman who was elucidating a book of the Bible, and he went back and forth among the books of the Bible to make point after point. He did it simply, but effectively. In twenty minutes I understood that I was indeed an ignorant Christian. Ever since, I have thanked Les Feldick for opening my eyes. Yes, finally I can truly say, I am a believer.
