The Catholic *definition* of the word *saint* is not the Scriptural

Earlier this week I provided evidence of the same to another Freeper. It was from "gotquestions.org" (I love that site.)

Then, after an objection, I provided evidence from some catholic website. There were other RCC "sources" that agreed with what gotquestions said (about the clearly tortured RCC process).

Honestly. There is a lot of ignorance out there.

On another issue (they always shift the topic after they are defeated), the same Freeper complains that only God decides who becomes a saint. True enough. But after my follow-up that agreed, claiming "Election", the (unnamed) Freeper repeats the point. Clearly, he/she doesn't embrace or understand election.

Shifting again to a third topic, the objector (name withheld to avoid the courtesy of pinging him or her) demonstrates his/her ignorance of "running the race" as described here (and by Paul in a few other places):

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2

It is also abundantly clear that this person does not understand what James (2:17-20) says about works and faith. This is especially ironic since the RCC requires meaningless works to avoid hell (or LIMBO - or whatever).

Your evidence is false. It’s from a dishonest source.

The Catholic Church teaches that any person who is in Heaven is a saint. They don’t need to be declared a saint by the Church.

And I do understand the Bible. I don’t cherry-pick it like Luther and his heretics do to justify his “by faith alone” B.S.

Nobody is a saint until their final judgement, after death, by God.

Anybody who declares himself a saint while still living is guilty of the sin of presumption.
