Earlier this week, Bondings 2.0 reported on a controversy involving the Los Angeles Dodgers’ decision to invite, disinvite, and then re-invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to receive a service award at the team’s Pride Night in June. The incident began following anti-LGBTQ+ Catholics’ criticism of the Dodgers’ decision to honor the charitable group known for their drag depictions of Catholic sisters. You can read a full report about the controversy here.
The following is a letter from Sr. Jeannine Gramick, SL, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.
Dear friends,
I am aware of the controversy regarding the L.A. Dodgers and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
I am a member of the Sisters of Loretto, a Roman Catholic congregation of women religious, have been a Catholic nun for more than 60 years, and ministered to and with the LGBTQ Catholic community for more than 50 years.

While I am uncomfortable with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence using the nuns’ old garb to draw attention to bigotry, whether Catholic or not, there is a hierarchy of values in this situation. The choice of clothing, even if offensive to some, can never trump the works of mercy.
Just as I have great respect for Catholic nuns because of their compassion and good works over the centuries, I applaud the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for their financial assistance to those in need. I support them because of all their good works. I believe that any group that serves the community, especially those who are less fortunate or on the margins of society, should be honored.
I support your honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Peace,
Sr. Jeannine Gramick, SL, May 27, 2023

Is that a nun’s Babylon Bee article?
LA Dodgers sponsor anti-Catholic Hate Speech.
Will Dodgers fans support the Dodgers honoring the SPI? The Dodgers have reached the bottom of their league.
Woe to those that call evil good and good evil.

Wolves in sheeps' clothing.
Tommy Lasorda would be so angry. He was truly a devout Catholic sincere in his faith.
No mention by her or the article that this sister was censured
“Sister Jeannine Gramick, SSND, and Father Robert Nugent, SDS, are permanently prohibited from any pastoral work involving homosexual persons and are ineligible, for an undetermined period, for any office in their respective religious institutes.”
The above was approved by Pope John Paul II in 1999. It should surprise no one that Pope Francis praised her.
“I believe that any group that serves the community, especially those who are less fortunate or on the margins of society, should be honored.”
Bulls—t. Like hell she believes that. Let’s say that the Klan or some similar “white power” group were doing charitable works for the poor of Appalachia. Sr. Gramick wouldn’t think they ought to be honored. She’s so full of crap. She defends the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence because they’re LGBT heroes, and she’s all in with that agenda.
Wonder why she was prohibited?
Exactly for what Pope Francis now praises her. Her work with the New Ways Ministry.
This knucklehead doesn’t even recognize that she is being mocked.
But if she was permanently prohibited in 1999 how is she still doing?
That is a very good question. To which I can only answer there is no church jail. Still it shows that whether temporal or secular a sternly worded letter only works for those who believe in following the rules.
Catholic leaders are primarily to blame for this nonsense. Over the decades, they have coddled people like this Sister and allowed an atheistic, materialistic cancer to grow within the church. I have run into them over and over and it is a shame.
I meant to type secular or sacred.
That makes sense
She is a sick fake nun
Just one of many.
