Daily Mass Gospel Reflection- Sending The Advocate
Word on Fire Ministry ^ | 05.15.23 | Bishop Robert Barron

SIXTH WEEK OF LENT
John 16:5-11

Friends, in today’s Gospel,
Jesus tells his disciples that when he returns to the Father
he will send the Advocate to be with them.

This “Advocate” is presumed to be ontologically
one with the Father and the Son.
Jesus says, “He [the parakletos] will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”

In receiving the Spirit,
the Church, throughout the course of its history,
will take on the identity of the Son,
an identity rooted, in turn, in the Father.
Every saint across the centuries represents
a unique living out of this fundamental to-be
of the Son, reflective of the Father
and made possible by the indwelling of the parakletos.

The work of the Spirit is making present and visible,
in an infinitely variegated way across space and time,
the coinherent manner of being that characterizes the Father and the Son.

+++Jesus said to his disciples:
"Now I am going to the one who sent me,
and not one of you asks me,
'Where are you going?'
But because I told you this,
grief has filled your hearts.
But I tell you the truth,
it is better for you that I go.
For if I do not go, the Advocate
will not come to you.
But if I go,
I will send him to you.
And when he comes he will
convict the world
in regard to sin and
righteousness and condemnation:
sin, because they do not believe in me;
righteousness, because I am
going to the Father
and you will no longer see me;
condemnation, because the ruler
of this world has been condemned."+++

It's interesting that Barron only refers to the Holy Ghost as "the Spirit", not the Holy Spirit nor the Holy Ghost. Today, Bergoglio and company, in their modernist march, reference the "spirit of VC II" much more often than they mention the Holy Spirit.

And in the following statement:

This “Advocate” is presumed to be ontologically one with the Father and the Son."

What in the heck is Barron trying to say when he uses the word "presumed"? Is he questioning the Holy Trinity?

Do we have to remind him of the Preface of the Holy Trinity which is professed in the now outlawed Tridentine Mass?

It is fitting indeed
And just, right and helpful to salvation,
For us always and everywhere to
give thanks to You,
O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, Everlasting God,

Who, with Your Only-begotten Son and the Holy Spirit
Are one God, one Lord;
Not in the unity of a single person,
but in the trinity of a single nature.

For that which we believe on Your revelation concerning Your glory,
That same we believe of Your Son,
that same of the Holy Spirit,
without difference or discrimination.
So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead,
We shall adore distinction in persons,
oneness in being,
and equality in Majesty.

This the Angels and Archangels,
the Cherubim, too, and the Seraphim do praise;
day by day they cease not
to cry out as with one voice, saying:

Barron "presumes", while others profess their"belief".

Big difference!

Another note: Barron presumes Hell could very well empty, despite the Gospels stating otherwise.

Ontologically, in applying theoretical metaphysics, especially to the non-believer requires...
To presume then that something is the case theoretically for the non-believer:
Presuming is to suppose that something is the case on the basis of probability:
take for granted that something exists or is the case:
To be, audacious enough, to do something:

Wiki
In metaphysics, ontology is the philosophical study of being,
as well as related concepts such as existence,
becoming, and reality.
Ontology addresses questions like how entities are grouped into categories and which of these entities exist on the most fundamental level.
Ontologists often try to determine what the categories or highest kinds are
and how they form a system of categories that encompasses the classification of all entities.
....These categories are characterized by fundamental ontological concepts, including particularity and universality, Of special interest is the concept of ontological dependence,
which determines whether the entities of a category exist on the most fundamental level.
Disagreements within ontology are often about whether entities belonging to a certain category exist and,
if so, how they are related to other entities.[1]

When used as a countable noun, the words ontology and
ontologies refer not to the science of being
but to theories within the science of being.
