Different Ananias. This one lives in Damascus, while the dead one lived in Jerusalem. Also, if it were the same one, Luke would have mentioned it. Indeed, that would have been a sensational story: the disciple awarded the honor of rescuing Saul later falling spectacularly from grace.

Thanks for the explanation. Ananias could have been a common name. Just like Judas’s house where Saul was recuperating was not owned by the betrayer. That was a common enough name that there were even two among the Apostles.
