Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 13

The Day and Hour Unknown

32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert[e]! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God,
Abba Father!
How Blessed and Holy is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped,
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The One True God!
How Glorious and Majestic You Are,
King of The Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our All in All,
And Rock of Ages.
Let Our Song Praise Your Saving Power and Exalt Your Your Name,
Forever and Ever!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Since the Foundation of the Modern State of Israel, there has been an additional element of anticipation concerning the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Many consider this event to be "the budding of the fig tree" that Jesus spoke of in the Olivet Discourse. That makes perfect sense, because the Fig Tree represents the People of Israel in many Passages in both the Old and New Testament. The problem arises when People try to calculate the Day of the Lord, based upon the Phrase "This generation shall not pass away until all these things come to pass" (Matthew 14:34). Yesterday, a FRiend posed the Question: How many years is a "generation"?

There are several theories about this, all of which can cause failure and disappointment.

1. The Preterist View: The Preterist believes that Matthew 24, Mark 13, and the Book of Revelation all came to a head in 70AD when the Temple was destroyed by the Roman Empire. If anything should have brought Jesus back, it would have been that. It was less tha 40 years after Jesus uttered the words in Matthew's account, so it fit, except for one thing: Jesus didn't return at that time.

2. Forty Year Generation: Many Bible Scholars have fixed the "Biblical" Generation at Forty Years. This coincides with the Forty Years in the Desert that was a result of the unbelief of the Israelites after the Exodus from Egypt. Because that generation believed the pessimistic spies instead of God, they wandered in the Desert for forty years until the unbelieving generation died out. This theory was espoused by many Believers during the 70's and 80's. Unfortunately, 1948 + 40 Years = 1988. I was kind of hoping that would be the year of Glorious Returning, but it came and went, and I'm still here. I am glad I didn't give everything away and wait on a mountain top.

3. Seventy Years: In the Bible, a normal lifespan is considered to be 70 Years. (my age!). Anything after 70 is considered an extra blessing. People live to be 80, 90, or even more than 100 years old, but 70 is the standard in the Bible. (Psalm 90:10). 1948 + 70 = 2018. A lot happened in 2018, but Jesus didn't return at that point.

4. The Generation BORN in 1948. I tried to find out how many People were born in 1948, but I couldn't find any figures. If you will recall, the Whole World was recovering from WW2 and there was a Baby Boom. According to the Internet,, there were over 500,000,000 people added to the Global Population between 1927 and 1951. That is in spite of the horrible losses in World War 2. A new theory posits that Jesus will return "when the LAST person BORN in 1948 dies". Now THAT is unpredictable. People live a long time or a short time, but there are still probably millions of people born in 1948 who have survived COVID, Wars and Rumors of Wars, Tribulation, Famine, Lots of Vietnam Vets were born in that year, and still ride their Harleys to Washington every Memorial Day for Rolling Thunder.

5. Alternate Translation for "Generation": The word for "Generation" that is used in Matthew can also be translated as "Race or Ethnicity" Could it be that Jesus was speaking of His own Jewish People? For several Millennia, the Gentile World has tried to eliminate God's Chosen. Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Haman, The Inquisition, The Ottoman Empire, Hitler, Stalin, and others have all tried, but The Jewish People live on, though suffering intensely. In the Present Day, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Mullahs of Iran, and the "Palestinians" all seek to destroy Israel. Yet, as the song says "Am Yisroel Chai", the spirit of Israel LIVES.

Whatever theory is the right one, it doesn't matter. Jesus tells us NOT to set dates, but to "Watch".

And so, this baby Boomer watches and waits, with great anticipation and hope, for His Glorious Appearing.

Even so, COME QUICKLY, LORD JESUS!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 61

To the leader: with stringed instruments. Of David.

1 Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth I call to you,
when my heart is faint.

Lead me to the rock
that is higher than I;
3 for you are my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.

4 Let me abide in your tent for ever,
find refuge under the shelter of your wings.
Selah
5 For you, O God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

6 Prolong the life of the king;
may his years endure to all generations!
7 May he be enthroned for ever before God;
appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him!

8 So I will always sing praises to your name,
as I pay my vows day after day.
