I appreciate the fact that this column reports blunt quotes of the dark smoke wafting through the Vatican.
However, I am resistant to the writer, Dougherty, who sounds rather unmoved by the crisis he is reporting, and have the same reaction for National Review.
At this point, William Buckly would probably not be denying his own level of intellect, at NR, nor fail to see the horse well out of the barn and trampling over the Church of the Ages, saddled by Vatican II.
It’s really time for shaping the narrative with a little Truth of the wild apostasy being imposed, more than sanitizing the headline and the contents of the Vatican apostates view of Vatican II.
Depressing overall. Maybe I missed something.
His tone may be matter-of-fact, but I’ve been reading MBD for a long time, and he’s a sincere Catholic traditionalist who has written about how the TLM is the only Mass his kids have ever known.
Thank you for your reply. I couldn’t recognize what part Catholic Dougherty was, if any, and therefore bristled a bit because of his unaffected approach to Roche’s remarks.
I suppose the column would be called good journalism, in the order of “old school” reporting, ie., “Just the facts, ma’am”. 😉
