some very good teaching here brother.
reminds me of CS Lewis’ thesis that before the fall, Adam had complete control of his physical body and all of nature, to boot. but the original sin ended all that for all of us, his descendants. today, natural man has hardly any control over his body at all.
Thanks for posting.
Romans 6:16-18 (AV; superscripted explanatory notes gratuitously added):Frank, your readers should at least engage with the whole chapter, phrase by phrase, and take time to ruminate on each thought presented here by the Wondersome Holy Spirit, Who answers all questions. Each of us always faces the ultimate termination of the flesh-and-blood phase, but (if spiritually regenerated) continues on as a born-in-the-spirit eternally living holy being, to be eventually clothed with a human flesh-and-bone tangible body like that of our Resurrected Ever-living Savior.
16Know ye not, that to whomSatan or Savior ye yield yourselves servants to obey, hisSatan or Savior servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sinSatan, but ye have obeyedagreed for oneself to be unreservedly enslaved into the state of Jesus as one's Sole Proprietor/Master forever from the heart that form of doctrineJesus Saves which was delivered you. 18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousnessSavior.
The Power of Positive Confession is steeped in Eastern mysticism.
Buyer Beware that you can be led down a dangerous path.
It is wise to investigate it for yourself. One incident does not build an iron clad case for it as I recognize that hypochondria can be a real thing.
But simply declaring something to be so does not always change it. It will if you convinced yourself something is wrong in the first place, but if not, no amount of declaring anything will change it. It’s God’s sovereign hand that changes things.

Before?
Seems that I recall his WIFE had a wee bit of ‘control’!
Genesis 3:17
To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
So the Lord said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.
Yes, and also consider the man born blind. It’s easy for people to fall into this trap that because they don’t have (insert thing here) that therefore they lack faith and/or must be sinning.
The disciples asked whose sin it was, his or his parents, that this man was born blind? But Christ answered neither. The faith is submitting to the will of God, not in believing that God is, and then asserting one’s own will.
So then in this example, Christ acts in His time, and the previously blind man later demonstrates faith. Did he have faith before? Probably, but it isn’t explicitly told in that order as it is with the bleeding woman.
Point is, while one with faith *could* uproot a mulberry tree, and the article correctly gets the connection between thought and utterance (hello? The *what* made flesh? Oh, that), one shouldn’t pridefully or despairingly regard ‘my’ faith. Even that is a gift.
Like Paul’s thorn in the flesh and his problems with his eyes.
Or Timothy’s stomach problems.
There are no Scriptural examples of anyone making positive confessions for healing. They asked God or God sent someone along to lay hands on them, but it’s always God initiated, not man.
Our words do not create reality. That is God’s purview. He did not give us that kind of power.
Could you imagine the chaos that would ensue if everyone started declaring their own reality and making it happen?
Hmmm ...
That's exactly what leftists try to do when they babble about "their truth". It's what they do when they mutilate themselves or others in a vain attempt to change their sex. It's what they do when they substitute buggery for natural intercourse. It's what they do when they decree that unborn humans are not persons.
Leftism is an attempt to "be god".
> Could you imagine the chaos that would ensue if everyone started declaring their own reality and making it happen?
See above; but non-ironically the occultists who got fed up with degrees and ranks etc. that even the Crowleyites kept decided to start doing exactly that, and call it “Chaos magick.” Search it… the various results are more informative than a dry wiki article.
Praying with Commitment -Protestant Caucus/Devotional Posted on 3/22/2023, 7:44:12 AM by metmom "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10). Your prayers make a difference! Matthew 6:10 literally says, "Whatever you wish to have happen, let it happen immediately. As your will is done in heaven, so let it be done on earth." That's a prayer of active commitment to God's will. |
so good, thank you.
confessing the Word of God as truth is definitely NOT eastern mysticism. It is Biblical.
further, Proverbs 18:21 says ‘death and life are in the power of the TONGUE and those who love it eat the fruit thereof’
it is all about our Words.
Paul’s thorn was a messenger of Satan, not his eyes.
I never said it was. It’s the positive confession mentality, that we create our own reality by thinking we can speak it into existence.
That is not a power or privilege God ever granted us.
Using it to try to force God’s hand to move in our lives the way WE want Him to without considering His will is fruitless and wrong.
Anyone can create a theology and find some verse of Scripture to support it. Cherry picking verses and taking them out of context leads to error.
The positive confession theology is simply not Scriptural. It was never taught by Jesus or any of the apostles.
Yes, our words can hurt people, or bring hope and encouragement to them, but it cannot change reality. Only if you have talked yourself into something, can you talk yourself out of it. Psychosomatic issues qualify, but otherwise, you cannot change what God has determined to be His will.
We need to pray to come into alignment with that and not try to force our will onto God.
If you believe every word of God is true (and I’m sure you do) then confessing his Word as it pertains to every aspect of your life, including your health, is Biblical, real, powerful and true. The word sozo is used several dozen times in the New Testament, interchangeably, for ‘saved’ and ‘healed’. Jesus died to SAVE us and to HEAL us. It is already done and when we confess His Word that we’re healed, that is not make belief, false doctrine.
Then show me that all people who believe for healing are and have been healed.
And then explain why so many aren’t.
Or are you one of those who blames the sick person for their affliction and those who die from them for their own deaths, because they “didn’t have enough faith?”
