Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 10
The Request of James and John
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”
38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
39 “We can,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
Most Excellent Majesty,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name.
How Glorious and How Marvelous are Your Works,
Of which only now we are starting to glimpse only a tiny portion.
You are Eternal,
Immortal,
Everlasting,
And Unchanging,
Yesterday,
Today,
and Forever.
There is no shadow of turning with You.
Even when we are unfaithful, You are Forever Faithful to Your Covenants.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

As Ronald Reagan is famous for saying:
"THERE YOU GO AGAIN."
Here are James and John Ben Zebedee, jockeying for position in God's Kingdom. This Passage shows us that it wasn't just their Mom who was trying to secure this elevation, but that they themselves wanted it.
It also shows that, at this point in Jesus's ministry, the disciples had recognized Jesus as The Kingly Messiah, but not yet as the Suffering Servant depicted in Isaiah, Psalms, and other Passages of Scripture.
It is at this point that Jesus once again predicts His Death, but now He enlarges upon that to explain the reason. He would give His own Life "as a ransom for many".
There are two metaphors that Jesus uses. First, He speaks of a Cup from which He will drink. In many Old Testament Scriptures, God's Wrath is represented as a Cup. (Ps. 75:8, Is.51:17-23, Jer. 25:15-28, 49:12,51:7) Jesus also uses the metaphor of a Baptism. This is from a Greek word that means "Total Immersion". The suffering Jesus was about to undergo would totally Immerse Him.
Jesus will use these metaphors again, especially in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Little by little, God's Plan is being revealed to the disciples. But they still don't get it.
But, as we all know from History, they eventually DO get it. That gives us hope when we feel that we have said everything there is to say, but see no change in people.
There is ALWAYS hope that God can change a person. Sometimes we can get quite impatient, but His timing is perfect.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 23
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;*
3 he restores my soul.*
He leads me in right paths*
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,*
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely* goodness and mercy* shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.*
