Very true. But I think that, for the most part, the Great Deceiver has convinced "his" people that his way is the best way.

I am shocked at how many people are on a war footing.

The only ones I find who aren't on a war footing are nominal Christians who fill up the pews of mainline churches (like my beloved but former UMC). I would guess that there are plenty of "nominal" Catholics who are among that crowd too.
