Embrace the idea. Point out that Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem for the purpose of a census, which was to be used by Rome for purposes of taxation. So, yes, Jesus was born 'homeless', but only because a big government taxed them out of their house and home!

(Makes just as much sense as the 'refugee' crap.)

I’m not positive but I thought they left that failure and actually read the bible. So the analogy is of Herod seeking to kill baby Jesus soon after he had been born and Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt. The commercial is still misleading since Jesus was at most 2 years old and this was done to fulfill prophecy. Never mind that few are fleeing because of the risk of being put to death.

When Joseph fled Bethlehem to save Jesus from being murdered and went to Egypt he was a refugee.

The refugee problem is world wide. But criminal gangs are the problem.

And the answer is good government and law and order to keep people safe so they don't have to flee.

I never understood the census to cause them to lose their house rather that they had to travel to participate in it. Only thing close to refugee status was when they fled to Egypt to avoid Herod’s murdering of the innocents.
