The Day of Pentecost was not a revival.

Deception rules in these times....be careful.... Satan always counterfeits...he especially enjoys emotionally high environments.

It has been stated.....”If a movement is of God, it will bear fruit in keeping with his Spirit rather than “the works of the flesh” ....The movement’s impact will also be long-lasting and unstoppable, rather than fading with little evidence of “fruit in keeping with repentance” ...most of all the movement’s central aspects will never conflict with God’s Word, for God does not contradict himself.”

I personally prefer to err on the side of calling this event a student worship movement.

Asbury University is no stranger to revivals.

One of the most famous revivals in campus history occurred Feb. 3, 1970. That gathering, which also began as a morning chapel service, led to 144 hours of unbroken revival, according to the university website. Like the service currently taking place nearly 100 miles south of downtown Cincinnati, the 1970 revival also attracted national and international attention.

Here's a timeline of all the revivals to have taken place at the Christian college.

February 1905: A prayer meeting in a men's dormitory sparked a campus and city-wide revival.

February 1908: A two-week revival broke out in the school's chapel.

February 1921: A planned revival was extended for three extra days.

February 1950: A testimony from a student led to a nonstop 118-hour revival.

March 1958: A prayer meeting turned into a 63-hour revival

Feb. 3, 1970: One of the most famous revivals in Asbury University history. Classes were canceled for a week during the 144 hours of nonstop religious service.

March 1992: An annual religious conference turned into a nonstop 127-hour prayer and worship gathering.

February 2006: A four-day revival was held.

God is not bound by space or time and revival can happen anywhere if people are willing.

God is NOT constrained by our will

“The Day of Pentecost was not a revival.”

Was it a move of God?

The concept of revival did not exist at that time.

Does this revival reject the trans/drag/gay/lesbian movement taking over the church?

Again Pentecost was not a revival....you can learn about it in scripture and many reference books avaiable. What is happening at Ashbury is a student worship movment....and not the first as I’ve posted their history..

Of course He’s not.

But if people are not willing to let Him work in their lives, then anything He does in them will die on the vine.

We are constantly challenged in Scripture to choose to follow Him. We are not puppets or automons either. Love must be freely given. It cannot be compelled.

It was the birth of the church through the promised Holy Spirit whom they were waiting for.

I thought the historic Christian “commercials” at the Super Bowl had something to do with it. Twenty million dollars for two ads seen by a humongous audience.

People were just waiting for this to start. They didn’t know how to start it themselves but now they don’t have to.

Yes, you can’t revive something that hasn’t first been.

“Past performance doesn’t guarantee future results” is all I can say. The times determines much.

That said, I hope you are correct in your assumptions.

“Again Pentecost was not a revival.”

Again, I never said it was, and again I asked you if it were the work of God. Of course, it was, and it involved a specific location that spread like a fire and the thing that is going on at the college seems to be a work of God which I hope spreads like a fire.

God works in mysterious ways. Let’s pray this movement is real, grows, and lasts in its fervor. I’m convinced it is the only answer to the demonic wickedness that has the world in its grasp and the only real hope for preserving mankind. In the world’s darkest hour, when all else seems to have failed, let us pray for a true revival and return to the Lord’s grace. God always wins in the end and perhaps He has now regained control over the evil celestial forces that were set upon destroying His creation.

God’s word only.

God’s Word without the Spirit is incomplete.

The “spirit” without the Word is incomplete.

If the “holy spirit” is not pointing to Jesus (the word) it is not the Holy Spirit.

I am not seeing much pointing to God’s word but am willing to be corrected. But God is in this, no doubt in ways we can’t see.

People are dropping everything and flying to Wilmore, Kentucky from all points of the globe including the Philippines, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, Brazil, and Indonesia.

Mat 24:23 “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it.
Mat 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.

This is one of the scariest verses in the Bible to me. By our own ability even the elect would be deceived. Satan is that good.

The ONLY, ONLY thing that stops the deception is God. Don’t look at the event, the waves, look for God. Get your Bibles out and read it with the assistance of the Holy Spirit.
