Yeah, well; the churches where it is celebrated are few and far between. And none are close to where I live. So, since it has pretty much been exiled to the hinterlands, it has — in your metaphorical description — been driven back to the catacombs. And here in the US priests who insist on saying the Latin Mass are threatened by the Vatican. Francis is the worst pope in my lifetime (I am in my 70s).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ll hit 82 this coming August. As with you there are no traditional Masses offered closer than a hundred miles away from my home, so I attend only when I am away and there’s a Latin Mass community in the vicinity. Have a close friend, retired FBI, who sold his home and moved to Florida to be an active member of St. Thomas More Church, and SSPX parish in Sanford. When I visit him, attending Mass there is great blessing to me. When I’m home on Sundays I read the Mass in my St. Joseph Daily Missal, published in 1959, the year I graduated from high school.
