Yes, the modern church does seem to have fallen deep into heresy in many areas. Of course it varies by tradition, sect and denomination, and sometime even by individual church.
There are a lot of people who are self-consciously inventing a "new 21st century Christianity" - which just sounds weird on the face of it. Why not just join Scientology?
You see a lot of church's with gay flags and such. Even the proliferation of individual church "brands", like the read flame for the Methodists, etc. is sort of designed to let people "pick their heresy" when you think about it.
