Keep in mind, he defrocked the head of Priests for Life for saying, “damned.”

If these words were actually spoken, they are vulgar and stupid.

A few of us are old enough to remember when “Is the pope Catholic?” was said as a joke and not meant as a real question.

Then followed the insistence not to be rigid,

Except, of course, with orthodox Catholics ... particularly those who love the Latin Mass. Those horrendous miscreants must be beaten severely ...

If these words were actually spoken,

It was probably spoken in Spanish ... and Spanish can be even more "colorful" than English.

Perhaps it has again ceased to be a real question and has once agin become a joke.

Along those lines, I saw an assertion on a thread a few days ago that the Pope does $#!t in the woods.

Yes, his outlook is generally consistent with the Latin American flavor of Marxism of the 1950s and ‘60s. Think Che Guevara. The idea is that communists are the good guys on the side of the poor. Economics is thought to be a zero-sum game in which either the worker or the capitalist is benefiting but not both. And foreign policy and war are simply economic policy by other means. You see this in his inane comments suggesting that weapons manufacturers cause wars, etc.

There is a whole ream of evidence that Benedict did not resign in accordance with Church law. Francis was always a fraud, and now there is no pope.
