Today's Sermon looks at the Feast of The Epiphany
and shows us how the Magi can serve
As a role model of the Faith
For all Christians to take note of.
13 min. YouTube Video link below:
Once they saw the star, they moved, despite the length of the journey.
Sometimes people know what God wants them to do but they don’t act,
either out of fear, laziness, or the influence of bad habits.
The Magi teach us to move.
When they spoke to Herod of the birth of a new King,
he tried to use them to destroy the baby.
When you walk the path that God has laid out for you, expect opposition.
The wise men came to Bethlehem and gave the child their precious gifts.
When you come to Christ, break open the very best of yourself
and make it a gift for him.
Finally, they returned to their home country by another route.
As Fulton Sheen commented so magnificently:
of course they did;
for no one comes to Christ
and goes back the same way he came!
Maybe in Rio Lindo, it’s the Feast of the Epiphany, but in the Catholic Church, the Feast of the Epiphany is on January 6th, the 12th day of Christmas.
And, for that matter, Ascension Thursday, is celebrated on Thursdays, not Sundays as those in Rio Lindo do.
Prove it, hotshot. Name the actual date of His birth.
Are you sure you're a Catholic?
And yes- I'm Catholic - and have celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25th my entire life.
But no calendar dates can ever come between God and his creation.
Now to a more important question...
Of the FOUR (4) FReligion posts (excellent posts all) celebrating the Epiphany Feast Mass yesterday- on Jan. 8th!...
You found it necessary TO ONLY CALL OUT MY EPIPHANY POST?
- and yet you obviously- intentionally chose to ignore the other Sunday Epiphany posts? (whom could feel slighted btw)
Now is THAT VERY HONEST OF YOU?- OR EVEN CHRISTIAN OF YOU?
You’re the one who claimed Christ wasn’t born on December 25th.
You’re the one who denies the dogma of Extra Ecclisiam nulla salus.
You’re the one who pretends to be a Catholic.
So Prove to me where Bible/history says Jesus was born exactly on Dec. 25th then...
You can't disprove something without evidence... you can have a different opinion, but you can't make up facts.
show me the evidence or shut up.
You’re the one who denies the dogma of Extra Ecclisiam nulla salus.
Is Dietrich Bonhoeffer not saved- and going to hell for eternity?
If you can't or won't answer that... then your personal application of it, is exceptionally flawed...
"all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is His Body
Good stuff- NO DOUBT... But HOW do we interpret ALL?
Did St. Paul really mean "ALL MEN HAVE SINNED"... which would INCLUDE Christ having sinned then? No!
ALL is not intended to mean every single being- its twisting scripture.
Beware How you interpret ALL there..
So as you wish - WE HUMANS have bound God to whom he will or will not save. Sounds like a weak God, if he is ruled by his creation.
We do not Bind God's Will ever.
We cooperate with it.
There were 4 3 OTHER Sunday Epiphany MAss related postings...
why did you not comment on each one of those with your lucidity?
Are you not consistent in your honesty?
The Epiphany this year was on Friday, not Sunday.
Can’t you do math?
How did I disrupt an empty room?
Who would drink Boobie's, "Hell is Empty", water?
Ah... There we have it! A sola scriptura protestant, if I've ever met one.
NO !
If you read anything honestly you would see my request of you
Clearly asks for evidence from the BIBLE OR HISTORY....
verifiable historical data- OUTSIDE THE BIBLICAL TEXT.
Now you just ruined it with another false witness sin
you now need to confess...
You protestant...
Stating:
You do realize Christ was not really born on Dec. 25th...
Is no different than a protestant saying, "You do realize that Mary was not a virgin or Mary's conception was not immaculate?
And your response:
BUT You can't ... No ONE can say the 25th with verifiable certainty.
Is the same as a protestant saying:
"BUT You can't ... No ONE can say Mary was/is a virgin with verifiable certainty."
And you failed to address why Ascension Thursday is celebrated on Sunday's in Newchurch or your denial of the dogma of Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus.
I was actually born to a Protestant woman... So I was Protestant before I was Baptized...
So you are partly correct there...
But are you using that word "Protestant" in a sinfully derogatory way there?
Is no different than a protestant saying, "You do realize that Mary was not a virgin or Mary's conception was not immaculate?
Is the same as a protestant saying:
"BUT You can't ... No ONE can say Mary was/is a virgin with verifiable certainty."
Yes exactly...that is if you are referring the "Perpetual" Virginity... the scriptural evidence for the Virgin birth is undeniable.
But no, our Not-catholic brethren are absolutely correct in stating
there IS NO Biblical explicit evidence to prove the Perpetual Virginity. Sorry - there is NO WAY the Bible can VERIFY the Perpetual Virginity of Mary-
AND.... here is the important part...
THERE IS NO WAY THE BIBLE CAN DISPROVE
THE PERPETUAL VIRGINITY OF MAY EITHER.
That's what our Protestant friends don't understand - or get wrong.
I don't- I want truth where and when i can get it.
The rest is Faith.
And so we know through Faith she was Perpetually Virgin.
And you failed to address why Ascension Thursday is celebrated on Sunday's in Newchurch or your denial of the dogma of Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus.
I gave you a very good analogy of St. Paul's "ALL have sinned" - and "NO" Salvation Outside...
Think Bonhoeffer.
The Ascension Feats? Meh...
if it is that much of a sticking point-
I would still do Mass on Thursday- read the Proper liturgy for the Feast-
And celebrate the that day in your own way.
They can't take that away from you.
