A pastor and his son have been arrested after claiming $8.4million in COVID relief funds for a family-run Christian ministry they claimed employed 486 people.
Evan Edwards and his son Joshua, 30, were arrested at their family home in New Smyrna Beach in Florida at about 7am on Wednesday.
The arrest came more than two years after the family - including Edward's wife Mary Jane Evans and daughter Joy, 36 - were stopped by Florida highway patrol trying to flee the country in a Mercedes SUV, according to a federal complaint.
Federal agents found bags of shredded paper in the car and their electric devices in a Faraday bag - a bag designed to protect against data loss.
They were arrested but released the next day and were understood to have fled to Canada until Evan and his son returned to live in the home independently.
The whereabouts of Mary Jane and Joy is unknown.
In a six-count indictment which was unsealed on Wednesday, Joshua was accused of making false claims in applications for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans on behalf of their organization, ASLAN International Ministry.
Evan Edwards was wheeled out of the house in a wheelchair while agents escorted Josh out of the home and into a law enforcement vehicle with his hands cuffed behind his back.

[7] For a bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God: not proud, not subject to anger, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre:
COVID was just one huge scamdemic fest from my perspective.
And then people wonder why and how the Pentagon/DoD “lost track” of 2 Trillion dollars in assets....
Is that including the “American Arms Starter pack” left in Afghanistan for the Taliban?
“Is that including the “American Arms Starter pack” left in Afghanistan for the Taliban?”
Dunno.
Reports vary.
Some estimates put the missing Trillion higher.
But seen no mention of those things left in Afghanistan.

“After 1,600 auditors combed through DOD’s $3.5 trillion in assets and $3.7 trillion in liabilities, officials found that the department couldn’t account for about 61 percent of its assets, Pentagon Comptroller Mike McCord told reporters on Tuesday. “

Yeah, if they were anticipating an EMP.
However, in this case they obviously didn't want to be tracked.
” a Faraday bag - a bag designed to protect against data loss.”
Designed to prevent tracking moron.
