First Week of Advent
Matthew 9:27–31
Friends, today in our Gospel, two blind men beg Jesus to heal them.
Blindness in the Bible is very often a symbol of spiritual blindness:
the incapacity to see what truly matters.
Focused on the worldly goods of wealth, pleasure, power, and honor,
most people don’t see how blind they are to the truly important things:
giving oneself to the grace of God and living a life of love.
If you have not surrendered to the grace of God, you are blind.
How wonderful it is, then,
that these men in the Gospel can cry out to Jesus in their need.
They are, of course, making a petition for physical healing,
but it’s much more than that for us.
It’s asking for that one thing that finally matters:
spiritual vision—to know what my life is about,
to know the big picture, to know where I’m going.
You can have all the wealth, pleasure, honor, and power you want.
You can have all the worldly goods you could desire.
But if you don’t see spiritually, it will do you no good;
it will probably destroy you.
Barron: Always the hypocrite.
Bishop Robert Barron’s Word on Fire Ministry gets $1million from the government
"Much of society has lost sight of the purpose of marriage and now equates it with adults’ companionship.”
Bishop Barron speaks out against same-sex marriage bill
He makes no reference to sin and concludes with this:
“We affirm our respect for the dignity of all engaged in this debate, and acknowledge differing perspectives in our civil society,” the bishop concluded...
The hypocrite can't make up his mind from day to day.
Why do you think I put the word marriage in quotes?
Try reading before you rant, for once.
And what’s with Boobie’s term “adult companionship”?
Only an idiot and his followers would use such a term for sodomy.
You guys just can’t speak the Truth, in season and out.
Just bunch of wimps who want to liked by everyone.
Despair is a sin, Murph. Have you no faith in the power of prayer?
I believe you may have said those same words in 1973 with Roe v Wade.
Such a defeatist is a miserable way to live.
Remember, Murph: hope is a virtue, despair is a sin. Pass that on to your Boobie.
