Obligatory reminder that the "National Catholic Reporter" has been asked by at least two Archbishops of Kansas City, MO (where they are located) to drop the word "Catholic" from their masthead, and refuses to do so.
It's an independent newspaper (obviously) not under the control of any part of the church hierarchy. And liberal to -- and beyond -- the point of heresy.
