PROFITING FROM PROVERBS – 9/25/2022

“Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone” (Proverbs 25:14).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone” (Proverbs 25:14).

Now, there's a contrast between 13 and 14, “Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift,” you have the true messenger, the faithful messenger, in verse 13; and then you have this false messenger who boasts himself of a false gift. He is “like clouds and winds without rain.” In other words, they appear that they're going to do something, it looks like it might rain, but nothing happens.

So, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Mormons, are some heretic that preaches some other gospel; he has an air of Christianity, he has a Bible, but yet his message doesn't satisfy. There's nothing satisfying in his message, whereas when a person gets saved, they get a cold glass of water. I mean, they get exactly what they need right now! They don’t have to wait for it. They don’t have to work for it, it's given to them as a free gift that very instant.

“Whoso boasteth himself,” he is proud “of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.” If there was ever a verse in Proverbs that define the Charismatic movement, that's it right there. It is based on carnal pride and false gifts and it's “like clouds and wind without rain.” There really is no satisfaction in it, there is really no permanent work done in the believer’s life in it, and anybody that has ever been around them knows it to be a fact. They are very carnal people and they don't have any real assurance of their salvation; they really have no answer for your problems. All they can say to you is you need to get that GIFT; you need to speak in tongues, you need to experience the Pentecostal experience. Well, that won't help you if you are out of a job.

That will help not you. They'll say, “Well, you know God will take care of you after you get the gift.” There’s a whole lot of folks that “got it,” and it didn't help them. Then they try to get you healed and frustrate you more. It's just a ministry of frustrations because God's not in it, it's a false gift.

“By long forbearing,” by patience, “is a Prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.” In other words, you have a hard situation. You want to you overcome it, it comes from patience. You just don't rush through life and solve things quickly. It takes time. By patiently waiting on the Lord, dealing with Him.

Proverbs 16:14 speaks on a similar vein: “The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.” In other words, he won't stir him up. Also, it's true of prayer: “I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth” (Luke 11:8). This talks about importunities. If you just keep patiently going back to the Prince, eventually the Prince will give you a hearing, and when you go to him, have a soft tongue, “a soft turneth away wrath,” the Bible says, in 15:1.

That is true of prayer. James 5:16 cautions, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Colossians 4:2, “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2).

Don't stop. And that's how you seemingly persuade the Prince, because your Saviour is the Prince of peace and sometimes He just wants to see how desirous you are of what you're after. If you go to him one time and ask for it, and it is soon forgotten, there's not much desire on your part and He knows it. But forbearing will persuade the Prince.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

In modern parlance,

All hat no cattle.
All show no go.
All hammer no nail.
All talk no action.

Or in the political world, a candidate devoid of actual substance -- having no real message -- campaigns on the faults of his opponent. He's got an "eagle eye" talent for seeing every flaw -- skilled in deflection, denigration, and/or fear-mongering versus bringing forth good ideas that are built upon a solid resume of genuine accomplishment.

Produce empty rhetoric, or bring forth the works. Log treadmill mile after repetitive motion injury treadmill mile, or blaze trails. No Can-Do, or Can-Do.

Disability, or the sky's the limit.

We all know what happened to Jesus for threatening the status quo just by his walking around and actually getting stuff done, and showing everyone how it's done. Hey that's not it's supposed to work.

A lot of busness goes into redefining the Messiah and his message out of existence, because the show must go on:

So, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Mormons, are some heretic that preaches some other gospel...

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way:

31 days, 31 chapters... one-a-day like a morning vitamin pill, or

John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Which reminds me,

I had a most unusually framed dream this morning:

I had approached the Messiah. He was working inside of an empty bath enclosure. It was sort of a indoor pool, but the floor was at the same level as the room. Open in front though, like a large shower area. Tiled inside with small white tiles. The walls were about 3' high.

(A view from above would be like the hierogyph for a house.)

He was busy scrubbing the grout that was right under the top level of tiles (the ones that capped off the enclosure). The grout was really dirty and dark, and it looked like he sure had his work cut out for him, but there he was with a toothbrush, earnestly cleaning in the smallest crevices until not a speck of grunge was left.

When I saw him it made me very happy. Not because the place needed cleaning and he was cleaning, but for his attitude. I remarked on his genuine interest in getting everything so incredibly clean for its own sake, and that with him around for the inspiration and good cheer, I'd have the endless energy and motivation to clean and organize everything in my house the way I really want it to be. Excellent. I wanted to clean.

Here's the unusual part of the dream...

Later in the day in another place, a saw the Messiah. It was actually the same man, yet...

I was there to tell him that he had to meet up with the other man whom I saw earlier in the day, that they'd make a perfect team and would get along great! They'd do so much by working together. He was curious but not just going to drop what he was doing.

I explained how that other man was meticulously scrubbing the tile, same thing he'd be doing if he saw dirty tile. As I gave him more details about the first man, he realized that he knew who he was. They'd been to school together. Then he knew to go with me to meet up with him.

But he was actually going to meet up with his own self.

Those who were with him (a couple of familiy members) went their way, and we went ours -- to the man cleaning the tile.

In related news (didn't see this info until today, and only yesterday had I seen a bit of info about the particular choirboy, no identity mentioned)

EXCLUSIVE: Choirboy, 11, who earned a legion of fans with his 'earnest' singing at the Queen's funeral is the son of an actress and won praise for his role in Oscar Wilde stage show

And it's not the first time Barnaby has been singled out for his talents, MailOnline can reveal, after the treble last year played the part of The Child in a Youth Opera production of The Selfish Giant.

A review in The Times picked him out for praise, saying: 'While I wish that the Child's role could be even bigger, given it's a family show, Barnaby Scholes sings with a lovely purity.'

>>>

He could be seen singing his heart out during the Psalm 42: 1-7 during the service, moving expressively as the choral music filled the abbey.

One social media user said: 'The little red-headed choirboy has stolen my heart with his earnestness.'

Another described the chorister as a 'superstar' while others praised his 'theatrical performance'.

One user tweeted that they aren't a fan of prayer and choirs, but that the 'ginger kid' was 'living his best life'.

Barnaby

Scholes

Recorded in several forms including Choale, Choales, Schole, Scholes, School, Schoole, Schools and Skoole, this is an English surname. It is residential or locational, and derives from the pre 7th century Olde Norse word 'skali' meaning a hut or temporary shelter.

I'm not on social media so I missed all of the choirboy excitement til now. Now I see that a lot of articles have titles similar to...

Young choir singer praised for 'putting his soul' into performance

To sum up the dream (thanks to Barnaby, who suddenly became a superstar on account of his soul)

'The red-headed man cleaning the tile has stolen my heart with his earnestness.'

Join the Navi, see the World. Or Word, as it were.

By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
