I don’t think either will go that far at this time. Ukraine simply isn’t valuable enough for Russia and China to go against the West. And the timing isn’t right prohetically.
I do however believe Russia will make a wrong call and end up going back to Russia with it’s tail between it’s legs “this time” ......but it won’t be over as we know down the road they will lead an attack against ISrael.
Well I don’t think anyone goes into a war wanting it to blow up, but things happen, and then eventually events go beyond your control.
