“ Traditionally, the Romans were the ones who stood at the foot of the cross, speculating about how they could cash in on a phenomenon. (And they certainly did.)”

Please elaborate. As I recall, the only ones at the foot of the cross were St. John, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the Mother of God. Others were merely passing by hurling insults.

Other than Mary the Mother of God, NO ONE knew that Jesus would rise from the dead even though he clearly said it a few days before. How could anyone have been thinking about ‘cashing in on a phenomenon’ no one knew would come?

I guess you would find fault in St. Paul for his past sins, too, Scarlett?

Nobody’s good enough for you, right?

Mary of Magdala was the prototype sinner-to-saint.

Catholic Mystic Maria Valtorta’s extensive, comprehensive treatment in her “Poem of the Man God” of Mary of Magdala’s conversion and saintly elevation by penance, passion and love is fascinating.

Anyone interested in learning in which chapters of Valtorta’s “Poem” the Magdelene appears or is otherwise treated, please LMK.

LaBeouf’s conversion, if genuine, could track that of the original Lost Sheep, Mary of Magdala. Fascinating.

If this is true this is really good news, but I put it in the Kanye supporting Trump category.

Slate seems to only like Catholicism if it comes with a slice of sodomy.

Other than Mary the Mother of God, NO ONE knew that Jesus would rise from the dead even though he clearly said it a few days before.

What proof is there that Mary, the mother of God incarnate, knew he would rise from the dead? If so, why did she also weep like the rest, if she knew he would, in fact be resurrected, as he was? Is there a tradition that says Mary knew Jesus would be resurrected? Sincerely, not picking a fight.

A very fair question though a question that no one can actually PROVE in answer unless they can read Mary’s mind which, of course, no one can.

Tradition says that Mary was informed of God’s plan during the time of the Annunciation. We do not know the extent of the information that was revealed, but we do know that she was told that her heart would be ‘pierced’ when she brought Jesus to the temple at the Presentation. We also know that Mary was promised that Jesus would sit on the throne of David so his death on the cross could not possibly be the end of his life as he had not yet done this.

Did Mary weep over the body of Jesus? We have the many images of the Pieta, but nothing of the sort in mentioned in the Bible. Indeed, Mary ‘disappears’ from the moment of Jesus’ death until after his Ascension. Mary is no longer mentioned in the Gospels and doesn’t make another appearance until the Acts of the Apostles. Why is that?

We know Mary Magdalene and the other women from Galilee followed Jesus’ body to the tomb, but Mary the Mother of God was not with them. Nor was she with them on that Sunday morning. Would not Jesus’ mother want to know where they buried him, if fact, she thought he would not rise again?

Where was she?

She wasn’t with Peter or John (the apostle to whom Jesus entrusted His Mother). They ran to the tomb, but Mary wasn’t with them.

Where did she go?

For over 40 days, the Bible is silent about her. Where was Mary?

(My conjecture: she was being tended by the angels).

I would happy for you to reflect on this, and let me know your thoughts.

Peace!
