“A priest who is supposed to be celibate has a ‘sexual crisis’?”
A priest is a human being, not a robot. All are subjected to temptation on this earth and can fall. Though I think more is going on with this guy than a “health crisis”. Men who can’t live the celibate life by Grace shouldn’t be admitted to the seminary.
What about the associate of John MacArthur at Grace Community Church, David Gray? He was convicted of aggravated child molestation, corporal injury to a child, and child abuse in 2005 and is still in prison. Seems like he was going through a “sexual crisis”.
And the key is “still in prison”.
It’s totally unrealistic to expect that any place is always going to be free of sexual predators. They will get in where they have access to victims and many of them are very good at hiding what they are doing.q
The issue is what happens to them when caught.
The correct response is charged, convicted, jail, credentials stripped, etc.
The incorrect response is “moved to another parish” to protect him and not telling the new congregation of the problem and threatening the victims and families to not talk.
That said, a health issue that caused a sexual crisis is only going to cause a “crisis” if the individual is NOT celibate and doesn’t want to be.
