[Dominican] President Luis Abinader asked the Virgin of Altagracia to keep protecting the Dominican people and "to God to bless us always".

The Dominican Republic got its name because its capital is Santo Domingo. Santo Domingo was founded by Christopher Columbus, who named it for his father's patron saint (his father was named Dominic).
