The state of Georgia has taken yet another step to make it clear that unborn babies are human beings worth of legal protection. The state is acknowledging their worth and existence by allowing Georgia residents to claim unborn children as dependents on their state taxes.
Georgia residents can get back $3,000 for each unborn child with a beating heart — which means babies starting at 6 weeks are legally be declared dependents.
The Georgia Department of Revenue made the determination yesterday — in response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and a federal appeals court determining that the state’s abortion ban can be upheld.
The department said relevant medical records showing the unborn babies is 6 weeks or older will be needed to prove dependency:
In light of the June 24, 2022, U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the July 20, 2022, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in Sistersong v. Kemp, the Department will recognize any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat, as defined in O.C.G.A. § 1-2-1, as eligible for the Georgia individual income tax dependent exemption. The 11th Circuit’s ruling made HB 481’s amendment to O.C.G.A § 48-7-26(a), adding an unborn child with a detectable heartbeat to the definition of dependent, effective as of the date of the court’s ruling, which was July 20, 2022.

In effect declaring the unborn baby to be a person.
Does the baby need a name and a social security number in order to be claimed as a dependent?
$9000 if pregnant with triplets? How would GA audit that?
“Does the baby need a name and a social security number in order to be claimed as a dependent?”
Georgia, not federal
“How would GA audit that?”
That would be the Georgia Department of revenue.
By the time the get around to an audit they can count the kids.

Or a few abortions.
And folks keep telling me Georgia is in danger of becoming a blue state...Wonderful to see unborn life receiving the protection it should have had all along.
Blue enough for Trump to lose the state, albeit fraudulently.
