BAGHDAD — Last Friday morning, the Peter and Paul Chaldeans Church celebrated the Holy Communion for 15 youths in Dawra, Baghdad.

The celebration was attended by Patriarchal Vicar Archbishop Basilius Yaldo, priest of the church Father Thomas Tammo, Father Firas Kamal, Evangelist Deacon Jose, the Nuns of Mother Teresa, and a large crowd of believers.

Amid a spiritual and joyful atmosphere, 15 youth of the parish took the body and blood of Christ for the first time.

During the sermon, the archbishop urged the youths and their families to make Jesus Christ the center of their lives, serve with love and humility, and be witnesses of faith in the Lord Jesus.

The archbishop blessed the youths for accepting the body and blood of Christ and presented them with symbolic gifts.

That’s beautiful. May God bless them all and may they live their archbishop’s exhortation to always keep the Lord Jesus in their hearts.

I did some security work in Baghdad years ago. Took some Army Chaplains to one of the oldest churches in existence, a few miles outside Baghdad. Absolutely beautiful.

Folks can say whatever they want about Saddam Hussein, and yes his sons were absolute monsters….one was the Devil….but if you didn’t cross Saddam, it was live and let live. And he tolerated nothing.

Years later I ended up back there. Many Iraqis longed for him and his heavy hand. While a brutal mofo, he took care of his people in some odd,
Middle eastern, dictatorial, tyrannical way and they wished he were still there.

Christians were managing just fine, especially under Saddam Hussein, until the USA destroyed the political stability control and opened the path for Islamic radicals. For over a century of American foreign policy, it’s been our country that menaces Christianity in its ancient forms.

I suspect if the truth were told we would find Saddam and Khadafi were not the worse of the worse.....there were reasons we did a Desert Storm etc and I doubt any of those reasons had to do with saving Kuwait....

I am in 100000000% agreement with you.

One has to wonder what Khadafi had on the clintons

It's not Catholic teaching that Christ is sacrificed "over and over," but thanks for playing.

Any time fundamentalists tell me they "love Catholics" I point out to them that Scripture says "love rejoices in the truth" (1 Cor 14:6) and then challenge them that it's not "love" to repeat the falsehood that Catholics re-sacrifice Christ in the Mass.
