“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 10:11 KJV).
“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life,” one could go on and one about this. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30 KJV).
“The mouth of a righteous,” the righteous man tells men how to live for God, how to be godly, and how be saved. That is a “well of life.” Perhaps Christ was referencing this verse when He said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38 KJV).
How a man talks is how he ministers to people. Do you know what some people are like? They are like wells without water. “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage” (II Peter 2:17-19 KJV).
They wear the religious garments, or they walk around with a Bible under their arms, but when you go to these people for a drink of water for a thirsty soul you find there is no real water in the well—just hot air. They claim to be a Christian, they claim to be a preacher, they even claim to be a fundamentalist, and they claim to be of some help for a Christian; but when you run them down, you find out it is just an east wind. It isn’t rain clouds and it is a dry well.
Either in this life, or the next, they will be discovered for what they are, and “violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.” Their mouths will be shut at the judgment bar either of Christ or before the Father at the Great White Throne.
