PROFITING FROM PROVERBS – 7/6/2022

“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth” (Proverbs 6:12 KJV).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth” (Proverbs 6:12 KJV).

Verses 12-15 describes a wicked man, obviously; but more spiritually, or more prophetically, they describe THE wicked man in the Bible, the Antichrist. Notice how it starts out.

“A naughty person, a wicked man.” What he is doing is giving two descriptions for the same man. It’s not two different people. He didn’t say, “a naughty person AND a wicked man,” he said “a naughty person COMMA, and then some additional information, a wicked man.” What does that tell you about the word, naughty? It’s not so good. And in this case, the definition of naughty follows immediately—a wicked person—the Bible interprets itself!

Sometimes when we are speaking about our kids we’ll say, “Well, he’s just a boy, he’s a little naughty,” but the Bible means something entirely different than you think it means. Don’t use “naughty” to describe your children! This is how we destroy the strength and the power of the English language; the word means someone that is extremely wicked.

“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth,” or a crooked and perverse mouth. He is crooked. You can’t get a hold of what he is saying, he doesn’t speak straight, but rather he throws those big looping curves. His speech is filled with doublespeak and double entendres. A perverse mouth. They make really good salesmen, as long as we remember, “let the buyer beware.” A salesman often knows his product isn’t worth what it is being sold for, but he works for the company and has to use their words, and not his own.

How will the Antichrist deceive the whole world? He will speak of “peace and safety,” he’ll be selling a concept. He will be using “great swelling words,” and he will do it without a weapon in his hand. I do not see any place where the Antichrist picks up a weapon, and his bow has no arrows.

Bill Brinksworth made this thought-provoking list of “If I Don’t, Who will?”

I am a Christian.

- If I don't tell the unsaved how to keep from spending an eternity in Hell, who will?

- If I don't tell them that sin is wicked and destroys our lives and the lives of those around us, who will?

- If I don't tell them what God says is sin, who will?

- If I don't tell them that abortion is against God's commandments, who will?

- If I don't tell them that homosexuality is a chosen sin-style that angers God, who will?

- If I don't tell them that God's way is right and all other ways are wrong, who will?

- If I don't tell them that God planned for man to have one wife and that both should be faithful to each other until death, who will?

- If I don't tell them that God has preserved His will and way in the King James Bible so we will know exactly what He wants us to know, who will?

- If I don't tell them that not everything that names itself “Christian” is of God, who will?

- If I don't tell them that there is a real Devil who doesn't want them to do what God wants them to do, who will?

- If I don't tell them that it is the same Devil who tempts, confuses and deceives them so they won't know God's way or want to obey it, who will?

- If I can't show the world that there is a proper, rewarding, God-desired lifestyle, who will?

- If the unsaved world can't see that I am different from them, who will show them that there is a difference between those bound for Heaven and those bound for Hell?

- If my life is not an example of how good God is and a testimony that He is alive and still working in His children's lives, whose will be?

- If I don't have the “guts” to stand up for what I believe and what God's Word says, who does?

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
