When the Russian Church celebrated the memory of All Saints of the Russian land, on June 26, Patriarch Kirill consecrated the newly-built Cathedral of St. Andrew in the city of Gelendzhik on the Black Sea. Addressing the faithful, the Patriarch made a remark concerning Christian churches being built and, conversely, demolished or disposed of:
- Where does the Body of Christ appear in the Sacrament of the Eucharist? - In the church of God... Beautiful, magnificent churches are being built, a visible sign of the Christian faith, the faith that has survived to this day in spite of all the twists and turns of history, in spite of all the persecutions.
And how marvelous is today's celebrating the Eucharist in this new church, which is first of all a testimony to the faith of all of you, but especially of those who took the initiative to build it, who contributed their material resources, who supported in every way possible, so that the church could be built in time to reveal its otherworldly beauty to us all.
If you tell somewhere in the so-called “enlightened West” that we are building churches in Russia, they won't believe you. Today Christian churches there, in the enlightened West, are being closed or converted. Converted into mosques, because Muslim communities keep the faith and they need places to pray, so Christians sell their churches to Muslims.
Yet this is not the worst option: churches are often sold to cities, and then used for all sort of events that have nothing to do with religion, that fit the tastes of the godless society. We do not accuse them, but it is ominous when people, society and nation abandon faith, when instead of faith some kind of ersatz, counterfeit is presented to create the appearance of well-being......

The Russian Orthodox Church’s message might carry more weight if they didn’t uncritically support a tyrant like Putin.

I just saw a picture of an old Stuckey’s that was converted into a church, so there is that.
Christians need to avoid despair like the plague. I am not a Protestant any more, but this old Protestant hymn always speaks to me:

Long story short, God wins and so do the faithful.
I have known many Christians who emerged from the darkness of communist persecution. Albania shut down all houses of worship and all public expression of religion for 35 years. Not too many years after the communists fell, I met a young woman who had come here to work as an au pair. She knew all of the hymns and prayers of the Divine Liturgy by heart. I know other Albanians, along with Russians and Serbs, who are seriously devout Christians. And I will never forget seeing the performance of Rachmaninoff’s music for Vespers in Moscow in the last days of the Soviet Union. The work was thought to be lost, until the score was found in some library in Maine. An American choir performed it, and when they came to “Our Father” — all of the audience, young and old, including Red Army soldiers, sang along.
I spent a couple of hours this morning at a beautiful Eastern Rite Catholic Church that has a wonderful young priest and a great group of people. God is worshipped there. He is among us. Nothing is lost unless we lose it.

Actually Putin’s mother was a closet Christian, and Putin is very pro the Russian Orthodox Church. He is good friends with the Patriarch of the Church. Putin for years has been instrumental in the restoration of many Orthodox churches throughout Russia that had lapsed into decay when the atheistic Communist regimes ruled the land.
Putin wears a Christian cross that his mother gave him, around his neck. I am sure Putin thinks the war in Ukraine is being fought with God on his side, as so many other warring countries have claimed, including our own. Countries believe their wars are “good” wars of necessity, whether they are or not.
Putin considers his war with the West (NATO) that he feels is surrounding Russia, which it is, is partially to keep the moral decay of the West out of his country. No praise of the gay lifestyle, pornography, transgender affirmation, etc. in Putin’s regime like it is in the West. He holds Biden in contempt, as we all do, actually.

Plenty of negative things can be said about Putin, and I am in no position to judge his heart, but I will say that he understands which things are constructive for a society and which are destructive. That’s a big contrast to our Left and secularists who are always corrosive and always advance abnormality. He also loves his country and its heritage, again, in contrast to our Left and secularists.

Russians have a deep seated messianic world view based on the concept of “The Third Rome” It is there duty, set by an orthodox God, that Russia must save the west—and the world and bring them to Christ—IF THE LIKE IT OR NOT! Its worse than Communism because if you die in this crusade—you go to heaven you sins washed away! Eternal life in a Tsarist Heaven.
Russia and America will fall.

All the nonsense stories of Putin's Christianity are exactly that-nonsense. He has imprisoned and killed opponents, had mistresses and raised illegitimate children while stealing and amassing great wealth for himself. That's not the life of a true Christian but describes the life of a Tsar. As for the Russian Church, it serves Putin as it has previously served the Tsar's.
