Today's Homily on how the Gospel reading shows us how to put Christ first in our lives-
And why it is so hard for us to do so...

Following Jesus Comes First
TOPICS: Catholic
KEYWORDS:
The Bishop here, offers us a reality check,
On how we decide to follow Christ, earnestly- or hold ourselves back.
Putting Christ first, the way in which Christ lays out in today’s Gospel reading,
continues to beg the question...
"Are We doing that?"
Or are most of us, sitting back, not really wanting to think about having to count the cost?

The answer is always more Jesus.

The answer is always more Jesus.
What does that even mean?
God has already given us everything we need to follow...
It's not about needing more, but as the Gospel points out, really giving ourselves over to Christ which is so difficult for many of us.
CSLewis put it well...
Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him,
it must follow that you are trying to obey Him.
But trying in a new way, a less worried way.
Not doing these things in order to be saved,
but because He has begun to save you already.
Not hoping to get to Heaven as a reward for your actions,
but inevitably wanting to act in a certain way
because a first faint gleam of Heaven is already inside you."

You make a thread about Jesus and then want to squabble about more Jesus... LoL!
More Jesus only jeans giving ourselves over to Jesus.
You have a nice day.
