French Bishops Conclude Synod by Sending Petition to Rome Calling for Female Deacons, Married Priests

The whole synodal exercise in France rested on the shoulders of a national team surrounding Bishop Alexandre Joly and locally appointed regulators of discussion groups; and the 150,000 or so Catholics who voiced their opinions.

France (LifeSiteNews) — The French bishops’ conference has decided to send a national synthesis of synodal consultations that were held throughout the country since October to Rome without modifying some of its most revolutionary aspects. Pleas for the recognition of women’s work within the church, including by the ordination of a form of deaconesses, access to marriage for Latin rite priests, more Bible meetings and more decision-making by the laity, more “openness” and “listening” were some of the common factors that emerged from the consultations.

In what Jean-Marie Guénois, religious chronicler of the Figaro called an ecclesiastical “Big Bang,” the French Catholic hierarchy failed to recall Catholic doctrine on these and other points, instead stating that they considered the “national synthesis” to be a “binding” document – with the result that they communicated it to Rome as it stands.

This does not mean that the bishops uniformly approve the document in every detail. On the contrary, they met during an extraordinary assembly on June 14 and 15 at the Catholic University of Lyon for a time of “discernment” regarding the answers that were produced by France’s dioceses. They agreed to send an accompanying “cover document” in which they voiced their often revealing concerns.

While the meeting was mostly held behind closed doors, for the first time about one hundred guests, including permanent deacons, representatives of religious orders and many non-clerics, were invited to attend, which led to the validation of the “revolutionary” text. According to the unofficial daily of the French mainstream bishops, one source said that these guests were instrumental in preventing the bishops from......

I have been in favor of married priests for a long time.
Most people need a spouse or a close partner to navigate through their adult lives. You need someone you can behave as yourself with, not just as your job title.

Woman should be allowed to be Catholic Priests.
And male Priests should be able to marry.

A woman’s role in the Catholic church is so menial.

They have to marry god and live in poverty yet a male Priest can have a salary and live with a housekeeper.

It is very unequal and I as a Catholic no longer listen to a
obsolete church.

The Church could be heading to its third great schism.

“..they have to marry God and live in poverty, yet a male Priest can have a salary and live with a housekeeper..”
I’m embarrased to say I haven’t thought about that before, the clear and uneven dichotomy.
I think you’re right.

The world is exponentially bigger and more interconnected today vs 50 years ago, back when I was in Catholic School
Years ago, the average woman considering life as a Nun did not really know what she was giving up. Now, all it takes is one computer to show you in great detail what goes on around you.

A living level salary to these women would be showing some level of respect and appreciation for their sacrifice.
Those who would still prefer to live in extreme poverty should have little trouble finding such communities.

Jesus thought differently.

A woman’s role in the Catholic church is so menial. They have to marry god and live in poverty yet a male Priest can have a salary and live with a housekeeper.

Both men and women (monks/brothers and nuns/sisters) take a vow of poverty. It is their religious vocation, not being a woman, that comes with the three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. As for the salary of a priest, it is modest at best. If women want an independent salary and to work for the Church they can do so as lay workers.

My mother told me that the reason God chose men to become priests was because he gave women the greatest vocation, to have children.

Traditionally, men are the priest, the father and the protector. Women are the mother who nourishes you.

The big heresy in the modern west is to pretend one's gender doesn't matter, and pretend women are the same as men. Hence aborting your child frees you to do this...

But Catholic feminism points out that even when women do the same job as a man, she brings her femininity and motherhood vocation to that job.

For example, there are studies that show how women doctors practice differently than male doctors. And women doctors often chose less rigorous specialties that let them raise their kids.

As for women being relegated to only menial jobs....since when is raising a child a menial job? And nuns have run schools and hospitals etc since the early church.

And of course, women saints have told off priests, bishops and popes...for example Catherine of Sienna or Mother Angelica.

Then leave. Your heart left long ago.

The Church is in the world not OF the world. You want to remake the body of Christ in your own image.

Life isn’t fair. Nor is it equal. But it’s God universe and he sets the rules. Not humans. And for good reasons.
